How do you play against loose players?

Postby James » Sat Nov 14, 2009 8:57 pm

Everybody has one time or another played against a loose player

A limper who will see a heap of flops? A player who will play a weak draw to the river? A player who will call a 3+ bet with 6-4 off?

Overall, you are probably going to get the better of them (ie. take their money/chips), but every now and then, they get on a good streak and out flop you, or hit their 1 outer.....

How do you play against them when they get on such a run?

Do you tighten up, and play only the super premiums hands? Do you do the opposite, and play more aggressive, bet more and larger and try and push them around? Do you limp more and try and donk them back? Or do you give up and leave (in a ring game) and find another table?

What are your thoughts?

Tournament wise, Let him do some damage against the other players then try and see flops against him cheaply and back top pair decent kicker.

In ring game, follow him around, no need to play aggressive against him because he can easily donk against you. As far as strategy if you know he is a calling station, betting pre, and flatting post and trying to get to rivers cheap is your best option.

If he is an aggro fish, get to flop cheap, and make certain your monster is going to stay a monster before trying to get the value out of him. Plus reload you account so you have some buyins against him.

if they are never folding, jsut tighten up your range. dont semi bluff with open enders, play small ball with those sorts of hands, because you know they arent folding

treat tptk as the nuts, as they will often call 3 streets with much much worse.

wait till you have showdown value before you bet, ezy game.

dont forget to throw things when they 3 out you twice in a row though.
