I'm playing cash table around a mates place and Im heads up with Ian Howarth in a hand. IMO Ian is the best poker player going around in my region. i have AK hearts and he has called my $10 raise.

Sorry Toddy But i cant agree with this call, Ian is a good player but not the best in the region.

Just because a player plays more than everyone doesnt make him the best.

I could think of 2 or 3 riverland players i rate as better, its just they dont play as much so dont nudge the leader board.

Dont get me wrong i will stress it again he is a good player and probably in the top 5.

I am probably a bit biased, as i have had some pretty huge hands rivered by his behind calls on more than a few occasions.

And no i dont count my self any where as good as him or the players i have in mind.

But as you said its just opinion.
Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

I rate Tim Bredl and Adam Dunstan as the best players in the riverland. Who are your best krunchie? And surely these players are better than Ian, toddy?

Yep tim and adam are in my 5, as are you macca ( dont get a big head now)

I also rate the bloke that won regionals, i cant think of his name, but he used to play at waikerie alot and was probably the best ive seen.

Dont see much of him any more though mores the pity.

then it would be a toss up between reece and ian for the last spot. I find reece a lot harder to play than ian due to his agression.

Just remember guys, you've probably played against Ian quite a few times, but I've seen him at 100's of tourneys and cash games.

He is consistently up there, yes he plays a lot of games, but go ahead and tally up your stats versus his.

If a player can maintain the same average over a few hundred tournies that you guys average, in waaaaay less games, then thats a very good player. (real average, not best games either)

I've played Tim and Adam many times before as well, both are very good and in the top 5. Also, Adam and Tim only play about 5-10 games per season less than Ian.

Tim has only won once, and Adam only a couple. Ian has over 20 wins.
Ian doesn't play online either or read books, so imagine how good he could be. (i dont wanna marry him either Matt)

Anyway, as Krunchie said, its only opinion.

But, for the coup de grace, Ian has played 2 games at your home venue this season for 1 win.

Macca + Krunchie 14 games between them @ said venue for 1 win :D

you had to bring up that win at waikerie didnt you todd

that game was rightfully mine, i went all in against ian on the turn with an ace high flush, this was when there was 10 left and i was 2nd big stack.

Ian called with 1 pair, the river brought a 3rd ace on the board to give him a full house

i dont count that as good play, the problem is that he has done that to me before, called way behind and rivered me.

as i said its a big reason behind my bias.

OK. Agreed. HE IS A LUCKY SOB.

I've taken a lot of cash of him in the past year, but geez, i reckon the scenario you just gave has seen him knock me out of half-a-dozen games I've played against him (tournies).

Still V good but.... ;)

JUST ONE MORE STAT:

Macca+Krunchie+Adam+Tim = 59 games for 2 wins (both by Macca)
Ian = 32 games-3 wins

Oh and Macca came 2nd once this season. Don't remember who won that one do you?
