Well may you laugh benny the cunt but it took 12 Buddhist monks to come up with that chant and 3 died in the process. And the hat has been blessed by the holy Joe Hachem and Jesus Ferguson. And the shoes they are just pink :D
Not liking my chances with the showtek though as grumpy will be driving.

Hi Gayle,

I've read the thread and benny the cunt & Brett have given you some great advice as always. Best advice I could give you is to RELAX a bit! You seem to be wound up like a top! don't worry about the "visualization in the car', just take the advice as shown, know your own ability (which is very good), and go in playing your A game. That will be enough to give you the edge you need.

Good luck, I am sure you will do well.

Cheers,

Jo

Thanks Jo for the morale boost really appreciate it. You all give such good advice that I really appreciate and that is why I asked the question here. You are brilliant players who I really respect and I knew that you would be able to help me out.

Tomorrow I will give it my best and what ever happens happens. May the poker gods be on my side and wish me luck.

Gayle :D

Gayle,

First thing is to watch everyone on the table and try to get a feel for what they are like ASAP. See who bets, raises, calls, limps.

Then, work out which blinds you can pick on. Number of times I've picked up pots early by working out who is more likely to fold to a raise on their blind - it's great :)

Thanks Guys for all of you advice I did find it invaluable.

I started out on a table with 2 guys from Bendigo so that helped with the nerves. I sized up this table well and started with the plan of chipping away. There was no opportunity to buy any pots as there were a few on the table that were calling stations who would call any bet. The preflop betting was very weak on most occasions and the continuation bets just as weak. Only had 1 decent hand which was AK which I bet out and got 5 callers. Low flop and a bet from one of good players at the table and I was out of there. Great fold as even though he was betting it hard ( the only player who was doing this) he was getting called and ended up showing a set of 9's. Managed to pick up 2 pots on this table though to end up about 900 up when we were shifted up stairs.

On to the next table and again a very weak table for the most but again full of calling stations. Only there a little while when I got shifted again. New table and now about 600 up and my AK ran in to a set of 8s but again other than my pre flop raise I got away from this cheaply. Went to break just over starting stack.

After break started to hit a few cards. First hand back with blinds 400/800 looked down at Ace Queen suited. Pushed all in and got two callers 1 who was short stacked had Ace 5 other had Queen Jack. Feeling good but the first card out was a 5 which meant I won nothing on this hand. Next hand pocket 8s doubled up and then lost again with AK. Bring on the next table where nothing happened and I only stayed a short while. Final table for me was next. Played a hand really badly and lost most of my stack shortly after that. Flopped open ended straight and called the guys continuation bet on the flop. On the turn he showed weakness so I decided no matter if I hit on the river I was going all in which I did. Unfortunately he had hit his set on the river ( he had pocket 4's) and I had totally missed my straight. Out shortly after this :(

It was a great day though and one of the guys I took down finished 7th after playing some excellent poker. Made some new friends such as the lovely Will from Swan hill who also cashed, got a few laughs and really got to enjoy another fine event put on by 888pl. You all did an awesome job and should be proud.

Side note though got to see one player who was rude and arrogant and looked him up on the scoreboards. Lets just say that I will not be taking it easy on him when I see him on the next online tournament I play. He is definitely in my sights and will go down :D

Better luck next time Gayle.

With every big tourney qualifying comes experience and confidence in your ability. We know you 'got game' and it will all come together in due time. The poker gods let us all have a turn every now and then.

Well done
