Goossens Gone

Philip Goossens' lonely seat
Actually, Philip Goossens has been gone for a while now.
You might have heard Goosens' story from Day 3. An online qualifier, Goosens had made it to the third day of play with an above average stack of 92,400.
As we reported yesterday, the word was the package he'd won only covered expenses through last weekend, which meant Goossens was looking at paying out of pocket if he wanted to stick around any further.
Deciding against doing so, Goossens headed back to Belgium on his scheduled flight. His stack actually survived the day yesterday, with just 4,400 left when play concluded. It only took an orbit today for Goossens finally to be eliminated. No cash, but he did outlast over 6,000 players without even playing beyond Day 2.

From One Champion to Another
Posted 4 hours 22 minutes ago by Shamus
After we came back from the break, Johnny Chan had just taken his seat back at the main feature table when an opponent, Jeff Fenech, had a question for him.
Like Chan, Fenech is a world champion himself -- a boxing champion. The Australian was a three-time bantamweight champion, in fact, back in the 1980s.
Fenech had purchased a poker strategy book during the break -- not Chan's own book, Million Dollar Hold'em, incidentally -- and held it up asking Chan whether or not it would help him. We couldn't hear Chan's response, but the two were laughing as the cards were dealt and Fenech quickly put the book away.
Chan won the first pot coming back from the break, and has moved back up over 600,000 now. Fenech, meanwhile, is still punching with his current stack of 135,000.

Dinner Break?
Posted 17 minutes ago by SantanaBandana
For the next 90 minutes, the clock will paused with 1:15:44 left in Level 16 and 751 players remaining.
"We want you all to enjoy your dinner break," tournament director Jack Effel announced. "So we will break for 90 minutes and then return for hand-for-hand play."
The reaction from the players?
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOO
Four players are currently on dinner and will return to bubble the 2010 Main Event. Quite brutal.

Year of the Mizrachis
Posted 1 hour 8 minutes ago by BenConoley
Eric Mizrachi
It all started with the $50K Player's Championship, which featured both Michael and Robert at the final table, with the bracelet eventually going to Michael. Throughout the rest of the series the Mizrachis were a constant topic of conversation with Michael cashing in four events before the Main Event started and Robert cashing in five events leading up to today.
Yes, it's been a good summer to be a Mizrachi.
To top it all off, all four Mizrachi brothers cashed in today's main event. On a sad note, Eric Mizrachi is the first of them to be eliminated.
Mizrachi was riding a short stack and went all in with two other players shoving on top of him.
Mizrachi: JJ
Seat 1: AK
Seat 4: AA
The player with the aces stayed ahead the entire way through the hand, as the board fell 2 T 2 6 5, eliminating Mizrachi and the player in Seat 1.
After busting, Eric went over to the main feature table where he visited a bit with his brother, Michael, showing him the ticket indicating the place he'd finished. The Grinder congratulated his brother, and the table all also congratulated the two of them. As Eric leaves, Michael continues his attempt at winning his second bracelet of the year.
