to be honest roy, you played that last hand pretty horribly. the only way you were getting all of garth's chips was if he had a super monster as well, which luckily for you, he did

Not being rude or stupid but what does standard mean. That hand was pretty sick and full house over bigger full house with a slow played pair of aces would have to be uncommon. I would not think that you or anybody else on 888pl would be folding a Garth's queens given the way that hand played out. I have heard standard a few times now and usually the hand is not played out in a standard way and it is usually when a great hand is beaten by an even better hand. Is standard a way of saying I got lucky that I got a monster and I got paid off even though I played the hand badly. If Garth moved all in on the flop would you call and would that be a standard call? Is slow playing aces standard? What hand did you put him on that to bet that much would be a standard call or even raise so you could get paid off for your full house?
Not saying you didn't have a great hand Roy and well done for getting paid off just want to know what standard means.

standard usually means that both players played the hand pretty much perfectly, and would do the same again 100% of the time. i.e aces into kings preflop - if a king hits, then the aces didn't really cop a bad beat, it is pretty much "standard" i.e it just happens, the player with the kings didn't do anything wrong.

IMHO the hand with roy and garth is pretty much the polar opposite of standard. if the money went in pre, or even on the flop, then its a different story.

I think he meant it in jest. At least, that's how I took it.

Doesnt that give you a straight flush 6-Td??

Last I can remember is this one (already posted in another thread):
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tournament, 100/200 Blinds 25 Ante (9 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

MP1 (t8071)
MP2 (t2461)
MP3 (t7248)
CO (t10076)
Button (t3319)

Hero's M: 7.58

Preflop: Hero is SB with 8Image, 10Image
2 folds, MP1 calls t200, 1 fold, MP3 calls t200, 2 folds, Hero calls t100, BB checks

Flop: (t1025) 7Image, 9Image, JImage (4 players)
Hero checks, BB bets t600, MP1 calls t600, MP3 calls t600, Hero raises to t3755 (All-In), 1 fold, MP1 calls t3155, 1 fold

Turn: (t9735) AImage (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: (t9735) AImage (2 players, 1 all-in)

Total pot: t9735

Results:
Hero had 8Image, 10Image (straight, Jack high).
MP1 had AImage, 9Image (full house, Aces over nines).
Outcome: MP1 won t9735

Edit: Garth, those running 6s for quads /w Ace kicker makes me feel so much better about this hand
Thats got to be the worst i ever heard of... Any monitor or funiture damage? ;)

it is making me question my game. and re-think every decision i make. which in turn makes me play worse, and then i tilt more, and its a downward spiral.

edit: this started when i put pressure on myself to try and make enough money to supplement the holiday we are having next year. could be something to do with it?

I am certainly no expert, as you all know, but i have very good emotional control. Yes the pressure regarding holiday could be impacting your play (also not wanting to lose to cut into holiday budget benny the cunt?) But personally I think what I highlighted is probably the biggest reason...
The main point of the invention of chips, was to make casino patrons 'forget' (or atleast no think so much about) it was real $$ they were gambling (and trust me they do!). I think it helps to do the same in poker in a sense. If you are playing within your BR (which I know u do benny the cunt), then forget the money, and just play....
Just keep playin your game benny the cunt...
Goals are good and maybe even neccessary, but dont let them add pressure to your playing

FWIW I do find switching between PLO and NLHE good when running bad at either though, so not just a change in format, but a new game entirely... I figure I cant keep making exactly the same mistakes if i switch to PLO (or NLHE)??

But perhaps if you figure out what that 'something' is, then that will answer your question?

Oh, and control the tilt of course... Sometimes Id sit out a few hands and take a 3 minute walk around the back yard lookin at the stars (but I don't tilt anymore ;) )

[8d] [7d]

vs

[Ad] [Kd]

on a [9d] [6d] [Qd] [Jd] board.

Thank you for the clarification benny the cunt. I had thought it was some sort of insult so I do apologize Roy.
