benny the cunt you are correct, but for a major 888pl event considering the number of players across 5 states, 178 player is not a big field. So that begs the question what % of live player are registered to play online.

Is the message about these type of events getting out to the venue players, I decided I would not play beyond 7.45 ( Dave solved that problem by taking Garth, myself and 1 other out in the same hand), I would rather support my local venue which needs our bums on seats, of the 7 other players on my table only 1 knew of the OL Champ's.

So I suppose the quandry for Garth is how to get the message out to the rank and file players or will this type of event interest only a small minority of 888pl players at best.
42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot.

I received 2 text messages within 24 hours of the 888PLOC starting.

The message was out there.

All TC's knew of the Online Champs and every venue I attended had the tournies announced.

If people were unaware of the online champs then they were either not listening or their TC didn't announce it.

888PL.com.au? - yes! http://www.888pl.com.au/News.asp?Action ... =151&TID=4
Forum? - yes

All guarantee's were broken, no overlays, so I'd say the word got out there!

My local tc's announced at every single game and I was even given a small business card that had all of the details of each game on it (time, buy in etc). On the day announcements through the forum, face book and through 2 text messages. Not sure what more you can do to get the message out

i would like to know what more they could have done save for driving around to everyones house and making sure that they had 888 installed on their computer.

its completely fine that you went to your venue gundog, but why the hell did you register for the main event? thats just adding 30 t the prize pool for nothing

Because he was going to play, then if he got chips then he would stay. But because he didn't have chips he can go an play live and say he "supports his local venue".

Gundog i have already spoken to you personally about this today, i belive your wrong here,
Certainly at the club the on line champs was promoted.

But here is the hard facts of all the players that play in waikerie i know of 4 that play on line on 888, of that 4 all of them were in the main event.

so from that point of view the numbers were good

we just dont have a lot of internet players here mate, and those that do havent had a go at 888pl yet, full stop, not just he champs but in total.
Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

I agree with Krunchie the low numbers I think have nothing to do with the lack of advertising of the event but more to lack of people who play online. Many people still have a lot of reservations about playing on line due to a lot of misconceptions.

1/They worry about security of depositing money and 888pl have addressed this with pay and play cards.

2/They hear people constantly complain that it is rigged and the bad beats they have online would not happen in venue. We all know this is rubbish and it is just the volume of hands you play which tends to magnify the beats. The only way to combat this is to find ways of encouraging players to get online and try it out and the online champs is an excellent way of doing it.

3/Some people are just scared of technology. I have met quite a few of these and with a little help from those who are computer savvy they are usually online and loving it in no time.

Not sure what else can be done but all I can say is enjoy it while it lasts. In a couple of years time when the fields are huge because more and more people are tuning into the online poker experience I can see players complaining how hard it is to cash because there are just too many entrants. Even most pro's will tell you how much easier it was to make money online a couple of years ago before it started to become more popular. I am enjoying making a little money in a new online league before it gets too big and the cashes become so much harder. I suggest you do the same.

im not sure where the idea came from that there wasnt many people playing on teh weekend.

every event smashed the guarantee, and the first 2 events nearly quadroupled their guarantees.

im sure garth would be particularly happy with the events
