Biggest Bluff Ever??

This happened at the Junction last Saturday night (late game).
Micheal Goodchild and I sat down at our table and Luke(Jamo) sat down giving Micheal position over him.

Now the night was going well Micheal and I had about 2,000 in chips each and Luke was on about 4,000.

and now for the bluff.

Luke looks at A J off suit and raises to 600, blinds were 100/200. Micheal looks and takes his time then calls. A short stack go alls in to call, everyone else folded. The flop came A 7 4,(suits don't matter)

Luke checks it and Micheal pushes all in. Luke looks baffled and starts thinking hard. He knows about Micheal's skills and had so much respect for him, that Luke proceeds and fold his top pair with jack kicker thinking that Micheal called his raise with AQ or AK. Now since there was a short stack all in Micheal has to turn over his cards for a showdown.

Micheal turns over 9 4 off suit and Luke threw his head back, then the showdown started with the turn A, then the river J. Micheal takes the pots with AA44J and leaves Luke in a cloud of dust.

Luke would of hit full house AAAJJ but was bluffed out of the pot.

hope you enjoyed the story.

By the way, I'm not saying Luke is a gullible player, don't get me wrong i think Luke is an exceptional player and he is not to be underestimated, it was just a 1 in a million bluff.

Bad luck Jamo... If someone plans to bluff pre-flop, then you can't do much. Why else would you play 94?

This is a good story for the checking of a dry side pot.

He obviously put you on KK/QQ/JJ and hoped the Ace would scare you.

Knowing Michael as I do, I would've been tempted to fold also. Funny how simon put the story up, and not you.

I saw a bloke fold K-10 after a raise, only for the two players all-in to turn over K-K & 10-10.

Simon 1 in a million I don’t know, 1 in 15 months yes defiantly.

I think the credit should go to Luke not me. I always say good players fold good hands (that’s why Brad Harvey is leading the top 50 right now)

Bacon you are absolutely correct (If someone plans to bluff pre-flop, then you can't do much. Why else would you play 94?)
Secondly Luke raised the flop I then went over the top, so I put him on the ace not Ks or Qs

Some facts about that bluff
I first met Luke 15 months ago at the state finals I tried to bluff him then, he flopped the nut st8, so as you can imagine he won.
I have not tried to bluff him since and I have only attacked him with group 1 hands, laying down Qs, Js, and AKo Etc.
This says a lot about Luke skills and memory in remembering hands and players played.

David (Compulsive continuation bettor?)OH you know me so well.

Thank you for the kind words, I ain’t that good I just got lucky.

So call me you’ll be fine.

Have a great day A0
My favorite hand, any that wins!

there are lots of reasons i folded this hand to Micheal. like Micheal said every time he has been in a hand with me he has allways had top 10 hands. Respect for Micheal game play came into it, with my self as micheal said only "caught" him bluff once vs me at states.

My respect for you as a poker player has raised after reading this, Jamo. Folding AJ (on that flop) would've never even entered my brain, but with your previous experience against Michael, perhaps you felt it was the right time to fold. Then again I'm nothing special.

Personally I would've just called on AJ preflop, (then called that short stack all in, if he did go all in), then bet on the flop. Which from Michael's perspective puts me behind (compared to Luke). If he had raised all in I might've folded.

Bluffing is always hard to do. Its all about picking the right time.
