http://www.cardplayer.com/poker-news/ar ... o-novemberThe World Series of Poker today officially announced that the final table of the 2008 main event will not compete on July 16 as originally scheduled but, instead, the players will reconvene Nov. 9-10.
The idea behind the change is to create more buzz, and, according to Jeffrey Pollack, the Commissioner of the WSOP, this will allow fans and viewers to ask “who will win” instead of seeing “who won.”
The rest of the 2008 WSOP schedule will remain the same.
Discuss.

Negreanu's comments make sense though - but 3 months is waay too long - a couple of weeks maybe, but not 3 months

I like it.
The biggest downer would be the whole coaching thing I would have thought - people you've played a whole tourney with changing their game plan.
But hey, as with little old NPL, so long as everyone knows the rules going in, no one should really be complaining. If you don't like it, don't enter it.
But I think it would rock to not know who wins when watching it - I hate watching (or just plain refuse to watch) sport when I know the result. Go the DRAMA of live sport!

why dont they just show the whole thing live? even though it goes for hours, it would make for interesting watching
(prolly more for the enthusiasts like us that would like to see more than just the 'money' hands)
it basically just a blatant push for ratings

I think it would be incredibly hard to show it live. The amount of cameras used, and therefore the amount of editing is just huge. And the commentary is done afterwards - you can't have commentators talking about every table in the hope it will be one they want to show!
