Poker Quiz

Postby Garth Kay » Wed Jun 04, 2008 12:37 pm

Who wants a poker quiz?
I have to test some staff members out with a quiz, so I stole some questions, made up some and I thought I would present it to players.

No researching allowed, we are relying on the honesty system here.

Garth’s Poker Test for Beginners!!!

1.) What is rabbit hunting?

2.) What is Window Shopping?

3.) How many outs for a flopped flush draw?

4.) How many outs for a flopped up and down straight draw?

5.) What are the chances of hitting the card/s required on the turn or river?

6.) What are pot odds and implied odds? What are you pot odds if you have to call $400 and the pot is worth $1600?

7.) What is early position, middle position and late position, what are the best positions to be in and why?

8.) How many chips does a player start with in a regular NPL tournament? What type of tournament structure is an NPL Tournament? (The answer to latter question requires multiple answers)

9.) Define the following terms:
a. Bad Beat
b. Bet the Pot
c. Big Slick
d. Bluff
e. Board
f. Broadway
g. Bullets
h. Burn Card
i. Chop
j. Colour up
k. Drawing Dead
l. Gutshot Straight Draw
m. Hole Cards
n. Limp in
o. Muck
p. Nuts
q. Over Card/s
r. Pot Committed
s. Push
t. Rags
u. Runner Runner
v. Set
w. Short Stacked
x. Showdown
y. String Bet
z. Value Bet

In Depth Poker Questions:

1. In the middle stages of a tournament you're dealt A-K and raise in middle position to 3.5 big blinds, and get called by the small blind. The flop comes A, 10, 4, he checks and you bet two thirds of the pot. He re-raises. You both have 10-20 big blinds and you know nothing about your opponent. Do you:

a)Fold b)Call c)(Re)Raise d) Go all-in?

2. On the first hand of the rebuy period in a small tournament you pick up K-K in late position. The first player raises 25% of his chips and is called by two other people should you:

a)Fold b)Call c)Raise d)Raise all-in?

3. Towards the end of rebuys, you've built up a very big stack. When two players limp, you make a good raise with A-Q and the other big stack at the table, who is a solid player and has about the same as you, goes all-in on the small blind. All pass back around to you. Should you:

a)Fold b)Call?

4. If you somehow knew for certain that your sole opponent held A heart, A diamond, which two cards would you pick to give you the best statistical chance to beat him, if you played to the end of the hand?

1. You're playing in a major no-limit hold'em tournament and are dealt A-A in middle position. There's a raise and two calls before it gets to you and everyone involved has more than 50 big blinds. Should you:

a)Fold b)Call c)Re-Raise d)Go all-in?

5. Everyone behind you folded and the initial raiser and one other player call. The flop comes A, 6, 4 rainbow, giving you a set. Everyone checks to you, do you:

a)Check b)Bet?

6. The turn comes a 5 and one player bets half the pot. The other folds. Do you:

a)Fold b)Raise?

Fairly intense I know, but as decent poker players you should be able to answer this test in almost 30 minutes, but if you are writing down the answers or typing them allow for 45 minutes.

The person who get's the most correct answers will win something,
a poker book of their choice or chip set.

How does that sound.

I have one more question worth 1000 bonus points!

What part of the human body is the most honest? We are talking tells here, if you want a 100% correct read which part of the body do you look at?

My first guess would be feet. Tho does that still hold in a poker situation? How would you see them :D

I will give everyone a week and then I will decide the winner, it's probably best to PM the answers to the general questions but the bonus question can be debated here.

And RCON you may or may not be able to see the feet, but there are still ways to know what the feet are doing. Pretty cryptic hey?

But that also goes for fear? Or do your eyes narrow with fear..... i can't remember - being fearless'n'all ;-)

Anyway, I'm pretty sure the answer to this one is feet. The trick would be to watch for movement of clothing/body driven from the waist down I'm thinking.

I have very active feet anyway, but I do tend to move 'em around when I'm active and excited in a pot.
