Riverland CBI @ Barmera

This is a good news story with a slight twist.

Last night after dinner I mentioned to my wife that I was thinking of playing at Barmera tonight because of the new venue, her response was "If you want to go" in positive voice, not in "IF YOU WANT GO ! GO" voice.

Having never been to the Barmera Monash Footy Club before, I was impressed with a very good venue from the staff to the decor it had a friendly atmosphere.

The 1st week they had 32 runners, this week the numbers increased to 42 and Todd and Nichole ran an excellent game, what pleasing with the CBI there are no drawbacks etc.

My night started on a positive making some excellent plays to amass a reasonable stack 7500+ with 2 parsports in the van. The 2nd session saw my stack reduced to an alarming level, but a couple of late gains restored some hope. The 3rd session I had some ups and downs and ended up going to final table with 30k equal 5th chips.

Final Table, I started in a good position 2 behind the dealer, I was patient letting other players knock themselves out, I eventuall played a hand from UTG and won and then won again on my BB, It was my SB where the wheels fell off and I finished 4th in the money.

Here's the twist overall I enjoyed the night, but the blind levels and ante's turned the game more to push and shove mentality giving you little other options, it was the other player who pushed at the wrong time allowed me to finish 4th.

Gee I'm a luck bugger to have such a great wife.

What the twist was which I fail to explain properly, is the time of each blind level near the latter satges of the game thet appear to be too short, and it becomes super turbo poker.

IMHO this is not good rapid blind levels force SS player to shove with almost anything hoping not to get any callers to steal Blinds and Ante's.

I also understand that the game needs to finish at a reasonable time, perhaps a minor tweaking of the early blinds and maybe shorten the breaks.

Maybe the last paragraph on blind levels, but there's nothing wrong with a trip report.

If I was just debating the Blind Levels I would have posted it elsewhere and would have excluded the other bits. It was posted here because its general poker chat.

There were a number of positives in the post and one observation, you choose to take up the obervation and then pounce on the one paragraph and secondary explanation of that paragraph, look at the good things from the post :-

Tournment staff
Venue
Increased numbers
a Supportative partner

so stick ya head up ya bum  and I I want to make an issue about CBI blind levels I will, :P
