The new expanded rules are great, as (imho) they were a bit 'thin' before, and there are a lot of inclusions that weren't mentioned before.
One rule though seems (to me) a tad bit strange.
Under 'General Tournament Rules, subsection v) The Showdown' is:
5. Any player who has been dealt in may request to see any hand that was eligible to participate in the showdown, even if the opponent’s hand or the winning hand has been mucked. However, this is a privilege that may be revoked if abused. If a player other than the pot winner asks to see a hand that has been folded, that hand is dead. If the winning player asks to see a losing player’s hand, both hands are live, and the best hand wins.
Is I read this, it means you cant muck your hand (at showdown), if any player requests to see it.
Is this the spirit of the rule, or am I misinterpretting it?
And what would constitute abuse of this rule (privilege)?
I always refuse to show my cards at showdown, even if I have the nuts, if I bet first and am called, I insist the caller(s) show me first, then I show. Infact, I dont understand players who don't do this (especially in buyin events). But this rules seems to say that if a caller beats me, and I opt not to show my cards, another player can ask to see my cards?

Well that's wrong. If you are called, then you should be showing first. I'd refuse to show you mine first, if I was the one calling.
The rule I think, is to stop chip dumping.
But on the above, I saw someone muck their hand, and they dropped the cards from a decent height, and I saw that they had mucked a str8, after the winner had like a pair. Knowing the hand, he mucked because he'd gone all in pre-flop, and didn't realise he had a str8. If I had asked to show then, he still lost, but if the winner had asked, then the cards would've won.
I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become

That's the total reverse to what I would do.
If you are called, they are paying to see your hand. The person being called shows first.

that rule is there purely to stop collusion
if you are the caller, and the other player rolls their cards and win, then you DONT have to show
if they ask you to show, then they are accusing you of cheating basically. so its within the rules for them to do it, but its massively bad

It's to stop chip dumping.
i.e A player shows Ace high, and the other player mucks his/her hand. Any player are the may ask to see the mucked hand to ensure no dodgy business is going on (read: chip dumping). This rule is standard in any poker tournament, but it is one of those hardly used rules.

There was a discusion on this some time ago.
What benny the cunt said pretty much covers it.
Likewise, it's completely toolish to deliberately not show your cards when you have been called. Show them and like it.

Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

i think i said it in another thread, but i think people that aren't willing to show their cards are people that are typically bad players and have no idea whether they are ahead of behind of the other player.

Re: New, Expanded 888PL Official Rules
Sorry, I said it backwards... (brain fart)
I meant, obviously, if I call a river bet I wont show until the bettor does...
So many people call and then show their cards immediately, giving the bettor the chance to muck. If I call, I wanna see!
