I was on the table and I have to say it was pretty sick. I really feel for you.

I think one of the hardest things about playing poker is the fact that we think that others play similar to us and we expect them to make decisions based on what WE would do, rather than what they would do.

But hey, you played it fine and got unclucky. (maybe we sould make the last line a cut and paste standard reply in tilt threads lol)

As a mother of four I dont think I have ever been unclucky

I could if the rebuy phase was still around.

Maybe if its only like 1/7 your stack to call, but your whole stack?

I did once win a pot (called a shove on the river) live with 4 clubs on the board and I only had the 2c, but a very specific read/tell told me opponent was bluffing. (I did have trips before that, and saw a free flop from BB)

I have to admit that had I been in your position I'd probably be saying the same thing M8. Who would ever think that the "non thinking player" was actually me? Yes, I know those who know me and how I usually play are as shocked as I am.


Let me try and explain my thoughts prior to this particular hand which was actually the 65th hand. I had made a rebuy prior to the first break to give me something to work with. I had only won 3 reasonable pots up to this point and around the 60th hand I made a decission that I needed to make a move to build my stack or bust out trying.

The blinds were $75/$150 and when I seen my pocket 2's I thought I might be able to steal the blinds. Because I had been pretty quiet I thought 3 times the BB would be enough. When you reraised to $1,050 I thought you were doing the same thing and I was annoyed by not shoving ALLIN preflop.

I didn't put you on anything other than maybe 2 over cards like AK or KQ. So, by calling I was hoping for a really dry board and shove ALLIN or maybe even catch another 2 or a straight draw so I decided to call and see the flop. (Plus if you recall I thought you were the other Dad)

When the flop showed 10c 5c 9c my intentions were to just check and hope to see a free card. If you had only made a token raise I was prepared to push ALLIN hoping to get you off the hand as I still had a flush draw.

Remembering I only put you on high over cards not a pair.

When you went ALLIN I thought what the hell, I have 12 outs assuming both 2's were in the deck and 10 clubs for a flush draw and if one of your overs is a club I'm dead any way.

The rest is history! I called with my remaining $3,078 and wished you GL. You showed your KK and I said a few words out loud that are unprintable.

The 4 of spades on the turn had me typing GG in the chat box and I was ready to turn off the computer. The 6 of clubs was a terrible card for you to see and I really felt bad for you.

We keep saying "STANDARD" when this sort of thing happens on 888 and other poker sites but let's face it, it also happens in live games. All we can do is either accept the fact that poker at times consists of a lot of luck as well as some really good standards of play.

I'd like to think the majority of times I am the latter type of player. I did make the final table in fact I finished third and if it's any consolation I had my bad outs along the way. Especially the very last hand I played and they are as follows.

My biggest downfall was when I was chip leader with $178,528, Mattstrap had $141,510 and Miss_Rubiton had $84,462. I'm in SB $2,000 Matt BB $4,000 I have pocket 10's and raise to $12,000 Matt calls and Rubi folds.

Flop comes 3h Qd Qh I shove $24k he calls. An 8d on the turn and I should have checked but not me I decided to represent the flush (AGAIN) and shoved ALLIN for $135,528 as I didn't put him on the queens or the flush. He insta calls for $105,510 and shows his Kh Qs and I'm desperate for a 10 to fall but the river was an Ad.

Down to $30k and change so I shove 10 of the next 20 hands and back up to $96k Matt was $180k and Rubi $118k. I'm in SB for $2k Matt BB$4k Rubi raises to $12k I look down at pocket Jacks. I reraise to $40k Matt folds she reraises to ALLIN $124,960k I'm ALLIN for $92k.

She shows 5c Kh ...... LOL how can she call with that I ask myself? Flop comes 8c 5s kc can you believe that???? Turn was 7d 9s and I'm being so polite and said NH, GG, TY, for an entertaining night and took the $12.65 in cash.


I then grabbed my torch and went outside looking for the neighbours cat!!!!!

I know you would have called in an instance AK and thanks for saying so. I have written another post (novel) as to why I called and also some other interesting hands that were of greater value than the one in question as it was down to the final 3 players.

I'd like to hear what you think as I feel I have learnt quite a lot from the Forum hand chat with the likes of yourself, benny the cunt, Macca and co.
