A card game that epitomises everything that is wonderful and yet depressing about the human condition.

It is psychological warfare; a game you will never truly master, it's a rollercoaster ride of emotions, high and lows, but the high moments make the struggles and the futility of it oh so worth it! You will test yourself, emotionally and mentally, and put yourself through so much pain and self doubt at times you wonder if you are truly sane to do this all to yourself willingly.

It's a passion, a devotion, a neverending quest, life consuming, angst ridden, mesmerising, anger enticing, zen seeking and glorious in all of it's aspect and nature.

It's a card game, you make hands and you throw chips around, you strive to become fearless and a soul reader. In most cases the cards in your hand are irrelevant and it is just a battle of wills and counter moves against you and your opponent.

It's all about learning and developing; sharing with others and community!

In short - it's my other life!

I had a big downswing tonight. -10BI, then I won 4 back and quit for the night. EV wise I should have won 4 more, but eh.

Garth is very right on the emotional side of things, even though I initially thought I handled it well.

Poker is like golf in a lot of ways. Even when you are winning, you are never happy with how you are playing. Even when you win, you still think of ways to improve.

Golf is also very much a personal, mental game like poker
