Cant see it affecting things now but clearly the online poker sites will eventually be looked at.

Re: Interesting reading........
can you give a page number? is there anything that specifically applies to online?
the IGA has banned companies from operating online casinos in australia for some time, including poker, so unless they specifically target transactions to overseas sites then i dont think much will change

Not sure of page numbers but section 5 of the discusson paper in regards to strengthening how the online gambling laws are enforced etc. Your right that may probably mean nothing but with the latest moves to restrict pokies use the spotlight will have to look at the other avenues that people gamble and how to restrict them.

Re: Interesting reading........
I think the good thing is that all of the gambling reforms talked about with pokies etc are not about banning them outright, but about regulating them more tightly and giving players more control over how much they want to spend. so if anything, i dont see it being banned outright, but down the track, a move to regulation is a possibility, especially with a lot of the eurozone and possibly the US moving in the way of regulation.

you'd support enforced BRM for online poker sites?bennymacca wrote:I think the good thing is that all of the gambling reforms talked about with pokies etc are not about banning them outright, but about regulating them more tightly and giving players more control over how much they want to spend. so if anything, i dont see it being banned outright, but down the track, a move to regulation is a possibility, especially with a lot of the eurozone and possibly the US moving in the way of regulation.

if you could set an arbitrary stop loss per day, then yes - in fact most sites have this already, with deposit limits that you can set yourself, i know stars does. they also have self exclusion which is similar
