Re: My hand from the Terminator Event in Melbourne
Thanks for the replies guys.
The reason I worded the original the post the way i did was for one simple reason.
I was not the one with the aces. I was the other guy. He just would not lay them down. The read that I put out there was actually me I was talking about. I had played one hand, AQs and taken it down on the flop.
Here's how the hand actually played out from my perspective.
I'm on Button with [js 10s]. All players limp, as do I from the button. SB raises to 450. Everyone folds comes to me.
Reads: He had sniped another hand earlier by raising limpers and c-betting hard to take the flop down, it wasn't believeable and originally I didn't believe him here either until the flop bet.
Add the extra money from the limpers, the fact we were heads up and I had position I justified the call.
Flop: [jh 10c 2d]
His c-bet is out before the board is finished being spread. i instantly make his range AA, KK, QQ, AK. I take my time, guaging his reactions while I cut out a raise. I have 4600 left. I raise to 1600.
There's an audible sigh as he goes into the tank to try to sort out where I'm at. The fact I limped on the button has him confused obviously. He makes the call but is oviously not happy about. This makes me sure if the turn bricks I can take the pot without showdown.
Turn: [5c]
He checks to me, one of those resigned checks, where he knows he's behind, he's just waiting to see how much the river will cost. The pot is currently over 4000. Any sort of significant bet commits me, so I just put my whole stack in.
He starts talking. "Oh man, this is sick. I don't think I can fold here. This is sick. etc. etc"
I begin to question my read. Maybe he has [kc qc] and the turn commits him to the hand. Either way, I have him beat, I'd prefer a fold because I'd prefer not to show the hand and keep him guessing.
He eventually says "F*** it, it's only money" calls and rolls [ad ac].
I roll and he cuts sick, abusive and naming calling. Whatever. My money is in good.
River: [2c]
So sick. He's still abusing me so I just walk away.
Usually cooler hands like this don't affect me that greatly. Just the fact that it was so early, I outplayed him completely and still got screwed and he just couldn't lay down what I thought would be a pretty simple fold that early on really got to me.

Catch phrase of the losing player....
Yeah that is sick! river pairs the board, man that is one of the beats that actually does get to me (aside from some muppet leading then calling my allin on the flop with a 5high flush draw to my set of Kings and hitting it on the river) and AA v AA and a four flush.. (or whatever pair v pair)
Had a similar hand (which I posted about), guy just couldnt lay aces, and ends up runner runner straight to my set of Queens... Some people just think AA is indestructible!
But all you can do is laugh when, as you say, you were priced in, and had position, and he abuses you for making the call pre!
I'll have to remember that trick of reversing the positions someimes when posting hands! good one!

I'm interested in why you didn't consider "bluff" as his range when he was c-betting so quickly?
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

I thought I mentioned that I did? Initially that was an option, but his tank call on the flop gave me the info I needed.
