You'd have to think about a call if your stack was any (30%?) smaller or it was turbo tho.

if i have 22 bb when i start the hand instead of 35, this is the easiest call in poker. but because i can fold and still maintain a stack capable of winning the tourney, i opted to fold.

Fold.
It just sorta "feels" like a fold. I reckon we have the best hand, but calling feels iffy, I'm not confident in it.

If you belive your edge on the field is small to none, then i'd call, but especially as you said that your edge on the remaining players was large, then flipping your whole stack to guarantee a top 3 finish is silly, when you would finish top three anyway.
Its the old adage: 'can i find a better spot?' if yes then its a fairly easy fold, with your stack size. I'd be stacking off with 20BB or less here.
Extra question: how small does villains shove need to be before it becomes a call? If they have slightly less than us its a fold still i think, but how much of our stack are we willing to call off in this spot?
all of it?
all but 15BB?
all but 10BB?
Obv its read dependent, but its another interesting thing to discuss about this hand i think.
