Effective stack sizes is something I'm working on understanding. Very important.

That's funny because it's completely true.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

I was asked on Saturday evening, during the Berri DS, why I looked at everyone's stack when the action was on me. I tried to explain, but just got a blank look :P

When I asked a few players their stack size during a hand on the weekend, I often got a look like I had just insulted their mother.

I asked one girl when she sat down how many chips she had (blues were in with blacks, in with green, in with yellows.

She took so much offense to it, she mentioned to everyone that came to the table afterward.

My fav thing was the bet sizing preflop (10-15xBB standard for an opening raise), followed by the call from the SB/BB/limper for ...... actually, I'm not sure, but they claimed it was because they always did that. stack size, FTW!

I don't and I greatly appreciate yout thoughts and efforts on commenting on my play, and I DO take it all onboard. I tried to convey this in my response to garth. (last post on 1st page of this thread)

Same... And possibly worse I have even been told its bad luck to count MY OWN chips at the table! (this was in the FTT tourney at the Flagstaff) and I replied, "Well how will I know where I stand in relation to the blinds and antes?" again, many blank stares...

And during this same tourney (which I finished 5th/145 AND took out a bounty :D), about 5 hands after being moved to a new table (and was the table big stack), I was in the BB and saw a free flop with A2o, and hit my 2 on a 9 high board, I made a feeler bet and only got 1 caller (of about 4 limpers preflop) so I checked the turn (another low card that put out a funky straight draw) and caller checked behind me. River bought a blank (to the draw) so I bet half the pot, got called but won the hand with my 2s (caller showed Big Slick). One of the limpers who folded to my flop bet (about 1K, blinds were 200/400 I think), got really upset and angry at me, and said (after calling me a d.onk amongst other unpleasant things) "How do you bet so hard with bottom pair?!", I replied it was a feeler bet (again blank looks), on a difficult flop to connect with, and I figured my 2s were good after the checked turn. I also politely reminded her that my read was right. She didnt take my response too well either! The very next hand she ended up allin on the turn, lost and didnt even show her cards! She lost to middle pair Ace kicker, so what the devil was SHE betting her whole stack on after getting so upset with my play???

Indeed it is, my friend. Indeed it is!

THIS!
But don't we love em when we flop the nut straight to their TPTK ;)

Thats ridiculously petty!
I remember reading a 'Pro Tip' from FTP which stated that people who have sloppy stacks are usually sloppy players, which I have found to be quite true on a number of occasions (not all the time though), but atleast you can tell they aren't particularly interested in exactly what their stack is! Hence dont play according to it?

Same sentiment goes regarding any comments I make on others' hands posted.
Im just offering up my opinion(s), not trying to make myself out to be a poker guru. As you said benny the cunt, analyzing hands either your own or those of others, is educational.

Read the chapter in caro about players appearance, posture, demeanour, chip stacking/arrangements etc and it is awesome. you can learn so much about the players you are playing with BEFORE a hand is even dealt.
Riskers gamble, experts calculate.

A feeler bet is a small(ish) bet made to gain information about where u stand in a hand. Like I said it was a difficult flop to connect with. If you get callers, you know they like the flop to, get raised you fold. Thats why I slowed down on the turn as I got a caller. Also being in the BB seeing a free flop, it is impossible for others to even put me on a range...
The fact that he checked the turn behind me, and knowing that particular player rather well, convinced me my 2s were good, so I bet the river. Although I couldnt understand why he limped with AK, that was very unlike him.
I was also starting to rebuild an aggressive table image (I had just moved)
