Here's a hand as an example. How do you maximise value here? I obviously did a poor job and then made a big bet on the end hoping he would spaz call.
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (4 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com
SB ($29.45)
BB ($9.85)
UTG ($10)
Hero (Button) ($25.70)

Total pot: $2.15 | Rake: $0.10

for every pocket pair, if it is folded to me, i will open. in 6max, i will open 22 from utg. you get lots of value when you hit your set, and secondly, you get folds a lot of the time when you cbet. flatting preflop gives you less options post flop.
trishan wrote:How big do you bet when opening? At the moment I am raising anywhere between a min raise for 22-44 and to .30 for 66-88 and .40 for all others.
If the you have a bet to .40?
If you have a bet to .40 and more than one caller?
a general rule that i have heard is 3-4BB plus 1BB for each limper. usually this is pretty good. my standard raise is 3BB for all positions, except i usuually go 4BB utg.
if there are limpers, then i usually like to be a little more aggressive with my raises, so i might make it 50-60c to go.
trishan wrote:AQ/AJ/AK - I generally open to .40. What if someone has already bet .40?
AA/KK/QQ - How are we playing these?
as muzz said, i think its good to make your raises as consistent as possible. and if you want to vary them, vary them according to position on the table rather than what cards you have.
randomising your bet sizing isn't warranted at 10NL in my opinion.
trishan wrote:Also what do we 4-bet to? Say if I have a raise to .30, I reraise to .90 If I have a raise of .4 I reraise to $1
i usually make my 3bets at least 4 times the previous bet, depending on if there are any limpers. if someone opens to 30-40c, i will usually make it a minimum of 1.1, but sometimes up to $2 depending on how deep everyone is and if i have positon. by making this bet larger, you get preflop folds a lot of the time, and it means you can open up your 3betting range a lot. this disguises your big hands.
with AA/KK/QQ, i will 3bet probably 75% of the time. out of positon , i nearly always 3bet. when i have aces, i want to get it in on the flop, i dont like playing multiple streets oop, so i wanna get as much money in pre as possible.
in position, i will smooth call sometimes, especially because the pre flop raiser is more likely to cbet if you just call.

your river bet looks really strong here, because to try and get value, you have had to pot the river.
changing your bet sizing will help.
go to 30 pre, makes pot 65.
then make it 50 on the flop. if he calls, then the pot is already 1.65, whereas at the moment it is only 1.05.
if you now bet 1.2, and he still calls, then the pot is now 4.05 instead of being 2.15. nearly double.
so now on the river, if you think that the other player is relatively weak, you can still bet 2 on the river as a value bet, and this is much more likely to be called.
by raising more pre, and betting closer to pot on early streets means that it is easier for you to bet bigger amounts on later streets.

Re: How to Boost Your Bankroll [Brag]
nice call, but i think i would fold AK a lot of the time to 2 allins. you can be sure that one of them at least has a pp.

Yeh I was a bit on tilt after just a few hands earlier the money went in pre-flop with my KK being smashed by AA.
