So when do you propose to get this started?
Garth also said he had some ideas for topics, maybe some or all have already been mentioned, but be good to get his input.
How will topics be chosen? List a few and poll it?
How will 'official contributor' be chosen?

Lets go go go :)

BUMP

Any ideas when we are going to get this underway?
How to select topics?
How to select 'Official Contributor'?

I would like to suggest that we use Google Docs for this study group.
I think some of the extra features available will make it a much richer and better learning experience for all...
Like, being able to include documents of all sorts, even presentations, would be a real bonus.
Of course, it will mean those without one will need to create a gmail account, but big deal?

I am happy to set up a Google Docs space for us to use...
I have used it before, and from memory, the original 'publisher' of a particular document has control over any changes others can make to it (or not), and we could also use a simple spreadsheet as the 'Schedule' of who is to write about what, and when.

I really recommend we use Google Docs for this study group. It will make so many things possible that we just can't do on the forum?

Perhaps even Google groups, combined with Google docs?

I think that also may make it easier to share the docs around, we can set permissions to anyone in the 888PL Study Group group possibly? WIll look into it some more.

Edit:
I found this on the support pages for google docs:
"You can also share items with a group of people via Google Groups. The sharing settings on your docs will automatically adjust to any changes in the group's membership over time."

Perfect!
But cant seem to actually find how to do this, there is no option for choosing a group under the 'Share' feature of google docs.

OK, so i have setup a Google group for the purposes of learning more about what is possible using one...
Worked out how to share (Google) documents with the entire group, which as I said, is perfect, because as the group grows/changes, the list of those who can view the document automatically stays in sync...

A few good features of Google groups too, that I am still exploring fully, like 100Mb for files of any sort in the group itself, and also web pages, with a web based editor/creator.

I think that would be perfect for the purposes of a study group.

I also think there should be a few people who can 'manage' such a group, that it shouldnt be left to just 1 person, and infact shouldnt be allowed to be controlled by just 1 person, so if there are any others who are prepared to share in the 'management' side of the group, would you post indicating so?
(possibly moderation of posts, membership management, scheduling of topics etc)
