very true

boags premium = not really premium, just better than boags draught, although it is still a good beer

when i say premium beer, i am talking about usually boutique beers, like james squire and little creatures (now they make some good beer)

and next time you are in the barossa (or dan murphys), try out the bee sting honey wheat beer, it is very nice (this si not beez neez, which is another crappier wheat beer)

in general though, i am quite partial to medium and dark ales, and wheat beers

ones to try if you haven't already:

Ales
James Squire Amber Ale
James Squire Golden Ale
Monteiths Original Ale
Leffe Blonde
Tooheys Old - one of the most underrated beers around
Kangaroo Island Ale

Wheat Beers
Hoegaarden White
Hoffbrau Wheat Beer
Barossa Brewing Bee Sting Honey Wheat Beer

Lagers/Pilsiners
James Squire Pilsiner
Little Creaters Pilsiner
Bitburger
Carlsberg

If you want a really cheap "good" beer, then carlsberg is certainly the one to go for - you can ususally get if for 40 bucks, and it makes a mockery of things like TEDS and carlton cold which are around the same price as well (PS i do drink teds as well, easy to smash down a dozen in record time!)

As you can see, i am a bit of a beer wanker

Stick less beer in a skinny bottle, make it more translucent, sell for the same as a beer with more in it..

..ergo, Premium beer.

One I tried recently which was exceptionally good, was Indian Goat Pale Ale.

Very tasty, tho if you're not fond of heavy beers such as sparkling you'd probably want to give it a skip.

Thank you to the fed govt for the new tax on the designer binge drinks...

I have now acquired a taste for beer (albeit reluctantly ;) ) and am now a supporter of the Pure Blonde. Bring it, lol.

I love that Carlsberg's catch-cry is "Probably the best beer in the world". I personally think it's a fair way off, but it's great marketing anyway.

I stick to Coopers Pale Ale, and avoid anything in a clear bottle or marketed as 'Low Carb' (we call these the burger & diet-coke beers).

I cant believe people pay $50-$60 for corona. That makes me laugh. Those people mustn't like beer. And don't get me started on those lemon & lime infused beers, just buy bacardi breezers fgs.

My vote for "Probably the best beer in the world" goes to Boags Wizard Smith Ale. If you haven't tried it, do yourself a favour & track some down. Well worth it (and costs less than Corona).
