I dished out a bad beat at the Alma last night. To set the scene, last hand before the break, blinds 300/600, I'm in SB with 8Ko and around 6k-8k (I think). 2 callers, I complete and BB checks.
Flop comes 2d 7c 8c
I'm first to act and bet 2k, SB raises me all-in over the top. The 2 limpers fold.
I consider him an aggresive player, capable of bluffing so I put him on a range of hands, including an open ended straight draw, flush draw, bluff, or high pair/high kicker (not an A).
After what seemed an eternity, I eventually call.
He turns over 78, uh oh, I'm in trouble now
Turn comes 2h
River K
That set me up for the night and ended up finishing 8th
The hand that killed me was almost as memorable. Final table bubble, I'm UTG with 9k, 5 handed, I have JTo. I go all-in, SB has fairly large stack (1.5-2xBB) and completes. BB has similar sized stack and checks
Flop comes out TT6 (hell yes!)
Turn Q (looking good)
River 7 (I reckon I'm good)
SB goes all-in and turns over T7 for a full house, damn! Not sure I would have completed the extra 10k with T7 but that's just me.

Re: Last night at the Alma
Lucky, Lucky on the first one
Only top pair with 4 runners on an unraised flop with a draw heavy board and calling the all in. Take it away as a lesson learnt
Will dance for your chips!
