Runner runner AGAIN

Postby Bacon » Wed Jul 30, 2008 11:15 pm

Why does it always come out on me?

Playing online, I made the money so I was doing ok.

I have AcTh in BB, $2360 in chips. 100/200

Dealer raised to $600. I call.

Flop comes 10c Qd 10s. I check, going for the check-all in..

Dealer bet $687.50 (half pot), i go all in for $1760 and get called with Qh Js.

Turn Ks, River 9s

The amount of times I get runner, runner when I go all in on the flop way in front is ricockulous. Seriously, what are the odds??

Not sure if this was a rhetorical question, but since you asked, here are the odds.

Minus your cards, his cards and the flop cards there are 45 cards left.

The odds of his runner runner straight are as follows.

On the turn he needs either a K or 9.

8/45

Assuming he hits one of these, it means he has 4 remaining outs on the river

4/45

To calculate the odds you just multiple these together

32/2025 or around 1 in 63 chance of hitting this possibility.

Hope this helps :)

I think it was rhetorical mate :D

Homer's mother (singing) : "How many roads must a man walk down ... before you call him a man?"

Homer : "Seven!"

Lisa : "It's a rhetorical question, Dad."

Homer : "Rhetorical, eh ... Eight!"

Yeah it was rhetorical, but now I know, it hurts even more. Cos it happens just so darn often.

I'd like to know exactly how much engineering you did today also?

Your first post was at 9:23am this morning, and you posted another 7 times until 1:05 when im assuming you either took a flex-day and went home, or actually decided to do some work (and yes its sad that i looked up all of this information, but please disregard this from the conversation). I can safely assume that the rest of the time in between was spent reading posts. Actually this must have been the case, as you clearly didn't spend much time/thought preparing your 7 posts today.

Please explain..

Really, please do....
