NokturnL @ The Modbury tonight...

Postby David » Wed Nov 21, 2007 10:25 pm

I was pained to get knocked out to start with but then to see my own brother go down like this made me even more bitter.

(suits aren't exact but aren't required)

He looks down at :

[ks] [kd]

Under the gun, blinds are $300/$600 - raises to $2000.
Everyone folds to the BB who calls $2000.

Two runners.

Flop comes out:

[3h] [3c] [js]

My brother looks at the board and goes all in, for around $2200 I think.

The guy thinks about it. His son is on his shoulder and apparently out already, wanting to go. He says something like "Well my son wants to leave. Call.

In goes his cash.

He turns over :

[ac] [7d]

Nice.

The turn is :

[jd]

The river is :

[as]

Calling a $2000 preflop raise with Ace Seven off suit to start with is highly questionable.

Calling the all in postflop... well.

*shrug*

Quite clearly he should have made a bet of $2100 pre flop. His 2k was just lacking that little extra 'ummph' :D

Seriously... even though I heard the tale last night, I still cringe at it again this morning. THAT is one killer slap in the face.
Will dance for your chips!

I promise to not knock his son out so early next time :)
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

seems like a typical NPL type call by the guy with A, 7, a lot of new players to the game think if u have an ace in the pocket u have the nuts haha

This is true

But if you like playing GOOD poker, and play Kings correctly (or whatever hand you have) you would like to win!

I can't imagine many people calling a $2k initial raise preflop and an all in post flop for that again plus more... with Ace high.

I havent... had AK suited last night, some guy min-raised. I pushed all in, he insta-called with 88. He wins, game over for me.
