I was in a tourni with my mates. Under the gun with blinds 100/200. Looked at my cards and saw an ace steering at me. Little dissappointed to see the card hiding behind it a 5. A-5 offsuit. Still early in the game and hadn't had much action.
I raised to 600 thinking that only premiuim hands would re-raise. One of my sturdy mates re-raised straight away to all-in. Wow, I got caught out. With everyone folding around to me, I had to stop and wonder. I know how this person plays. I play with him on a regular basis. I thought to myself, hmm, 80% of the time he is bluffing. He is an ultra aggressive player here. After a long consideration, I made the call thinking K-Q suited at best.
My mistake. He turned over the dreaded cowboys. I thought shit, I've got one over, I'm screwed.
With a slow flop, I saw the first of the flop being turned over. It was an ace. I've hit, unbelievable. This lasted milli seconds, as the next card was being turned my belly shrunk. I could not swallow. It was a king. My dismay was immediate, shunning any hope of recovery. Alas, the following card was a ........... (you thought it was going to be an ace, lol), a king. This gentlemen I was playing against just flopped quads.
I new I was lost. Before I could make a wager that I was utterly screwed, an ace appeared on the turn. Wow, I have one outter. Fat chance. I almost made a daring bet with him that I would do something if another ace comes out. Luckily I pulled myself up short as the river was the last and final ace. I had done it.
Runner runner aces to beat quad kings.
Cards was not the same for the rest of the night. I no-longer cared about cards, as I was gloating from ear to ear.
Yes, true story.
I will probably never see this again in my life.
