$10 + $1 Knockout tourny. $2 per knockout.
696 runners. 1500 Start stack. 10 min blind levels.

Made head's up. Was chip leader with 70 left. 3rd chip leader at the beginning of final table.

This hand sank me though.

Blinds 6000/12000 Ante 1500

I'm on about 575000. He's on 470000. He's very LAG. I played solid the whole way through, only putting money in when I had to. He's bluffed at many pots and been caught several times, but a few good hands kept his stack up.

I'm BB with [9c 8c]. He calls the blinds and I check.

Flop: (Pot:27000)
[9s 6s 2s]
I bet 24000. He calls.

Turn: (Pot:75000)
[9s 6s 2s] [qc]
I bet 36000. He calls after a reasonable delay.

River: (Pot: 147000)
[9s 6s 2s] [qc] [8h]
I bet 60000. I've put him on a flush draw the whole way. Possibly 2 overs, but unlikely as most paint hands he's raised. He goes in the tank, goes into his allocated time. He then pushes all-in.

I really wasn't expecting that. I come close to folding, run through possible combinations in my head, think about what he could've called with on every street that could beat me. I couldn't come up with anything so I made the call.

He rolled [10d 7h]. Gutted.

He offered the usual kick in the nuts via chat after the hand.
"I thought you were bluffing..."
I sent one back saying:
"And? You still only had 10 F&%$ing high! What bluff could you beat on that board?!"

Suprisingly, he didn't have a response to that.

I pushed on [Kc Qh] next hand and got done by [8c 4s] on the river.

Still, can't complain too much.

Spoiler:
Finished 2nd and made 12 Knockouts. US$835. 8-)

I think you are well within your rights to complain :)

Cue standard responses of 'but you want him to get his money in bad'.

Pardon the queue jump here but I'll reply to that in advance with 'you want him to get his money in bad and NOT hit his ridiculous 4 outer'.

Ignoring the frustrating part of that story, you seem to be on a hot streak at the moment Caleb, nice work!

Caleb: Out of curiosity, how much was the win? Well done though mate - can't be angry with the outcome. You're a superstar!

Pete: Yep, too true!

Garth: lol.

Yes I do. Every day of the week. As long as I win!

That's the annoying part.
2nd paid $835
1st paid $1355

It's a US$500 river card straight to the nuts!

:D Nicely put!

Very, very true though. Incredible when you look back at some situations you can get into and figure that 1 card cost you so much.
