Was I destined to lose this hand, or should I have gotten out after I was re-raised? I was putting him/her on A8(unlikely), 99, TT, JJ. Which is why I re-raised all in. Any input on this hand would be greatly appreciated. I hate getting into these situations and risking my tournament life on a single hand so early. I should have paid more attention to the call after my post-flop bet i think.

well for one the flat call then the re-raise on the flop would of been ringing the alarm bells, in a three way pot one of them must of hit something to still be in the pot

I can't see how you were getting away from it.

The initial raise came from the player you had beat. If you flat-called him there, I think the set might've still raised all-in.

You might've gotten away at this point, but I think you would've been pot committed to call anyway.

Flat the CO raise, then go from there. If there is another raise, one of them ships it in... re-evalutate.

Still hard to fold though, I could see myself putting it in here. Its a $5 tourny. Sucks that MP2 is behind you.

You were gone the minute the two bigger stacks called your original raise
Its pokerstars and the bigger stack wins 75% of the time. You might have the best starting hand but the bigger stack will win 75% of the time with any 2 cards. (Try doing the stats and you will see what i mean)
QQ vs 88 vs 99. You were always going to lose

Keeping in mind the chip stacks i would have made a similar opening raise from your position or even less just to get a feel of whats to follow.
With 2 callers and after the flop i would have made a similar bet but when the bigger stack re-raised

The QQ might be looking good after the flop but with a 3x re-raiser alarm bells are telling me something is not right. Plus my any 2 card short stack vs bigger stack theory

Hard to fold and i would have done the same 8/10 times.
Got beaten and knocked out.

Garth, I do that online/offline thing all the time. So easy to re evaluate a hand when you're not at the table.

What?

On Pokerstars AK i have a theory that no matter what cards the big stack has the shorter stack will lose 75% of the time even with the better starting hand

Just watch some of the hands and see how many times it happens.
It happens too many times to be coincidental
A bigger stack can be beaten and sometimes does but when a players tournament life is at risk and pulls a top 10 hand the bigger stack will suck out with something stupid and your suddenly out of the game thinking why did he even call

As i said just a theory

i think its an optical illusion, ive seen the big stacks knocking out plenty of SS mainly because they can call an all in or big bet with a draw and hit it, mainly because they have the chips to call. So they do win alot more coz they actually have the chips to see if they connect with their draws.
