24 left, 400+ started, money was at 45.
blinds 800/1600/200
I have around 30K left
folded to me on the button with 66

I raise to 7200k (I'd been raising only 3x for any hand I played)
folded to BB (60k), all-in.

I call. I don't even think I hit the time bank. I instantly put him on AK/AQ, and think he is trying to re-steal, and decided I wanted to flip. True, I was going (much) deep(er) if I won that flip, but that wasn't the question.

Is this call acceptable, given my goal is to win, or is it just plain dumb?

I have no fold equity, I've shown either strength, or that I don't want to see a flop with my big raise, and he has told me he is willing to risk half his stack despite that. Hmmm... I'm leaning toward dumb, but excusable.

Avg stack at the time? Do you use PokerTracker at all? Any stats/reads on villian? Also, I like a 3x raise better, if that's what you've been doing all tourny. Why go 4 all of a sudden? It screams weakness.

Its not horrible. If you are prepared to take a flip, I think its fine. I'm interested to know whether it was a flip or not. Did he show up with 99 here? There are certainly better spots to put your money in, but I don't see anything massively wrong here. I personally don't think I would've called, but that's just me. I can flip when needed, but this doesn't seem like one yet (you are not committed with the PFR).

No real reads, as tables had been broken down a few times, however I'd been involved in a few hands recently and had shown AK to lose an all-in. My "read" of the sit was more based on my probable image (something I'm inclined to put too much stock in).

As for 4x, just something different for a change - maybe invite a re-steal fro the blinds (something I'm also prone to doing is completely discounting the possibility of the blinds actually waking up with a hand)

Pokertracker, yes, but stopped using the HUD - Can't sort "auto centre" out - if I buy it, I'll spend some time with it. And yes, I've read all the instructions, it just isn't listening to me.

Close, 88. I guess the most horrible part for me was I had carefully thought my way thru a number of very successful c-bets, winning a large percentage of them, and some very nice re-raises when they played back at me - then to just insta-call this all-in was very disappointing. I'm pretty sure at this buy-in level, this call was waaayyyy too lose. Sure, half the time they will roll over AK, (maybe)AQ, but never any pockets less then 77/88. So I'm 20/80 half the time, 50/50 half the time - doesn't make for a great outcome.

Guess I just wanted to talk that thru - doubled my money, but I really wasn't playing 4 hours for $25

Exactly. If I had been on your table all day and noticed you'd been opening 3x every raise, but suddenly you're going 4x, I'd be shoving over the top as well. Also, you save more money if you fold to a shove with 3x.

Yeah, it felt like a higher pocket pair. You wouldn't be posting this topic if it was a flip and it turned out you lost. Unlucky. You always run the chance of running into a higher pair with 6s. A lot of the time, if I'm having trouble with a hand, I ask myself the best possible position I am/will/could be in the majority of the time. 6s? Flip, at best.
