It has seemed throughout my time at the poker table I have had a bit of bad luck playing with, and against AJ.
Alas, in the early hours of this morning my AJ held up twice on the final table to earn a win. I feel the shackles have been broken and I will no longer fold AJ when I turn up this dreaded combination.
We claim poker is not based on luck, but we still all play our 'lucky' hands, and say - That hand always gets me... Funny hey.

Curse of AJ
One night my mum told me to put out the garbage. I told her "you cooked it, you take it out".

Variance is about to put a beatdown on your ass.
Trust me, i remember ace jack losing a lot to AK and AQ, than winning against J10, 67

Re: Curse of AJ
its the hand that you remember most, nothing more
you dont ever remember the time when u had it and you held against A10.
i am not saying you do, but a lot of people treat AJ as a premium hand like AQ or AK, which it is not. there are SOOOO many times when you are dominated when you hit your ace.
if you play it like A9 and A10, and less like AQ or AK, i guarantee you will play it better

Re: Curse of AJ
That's not the point I am trying to make. Its the mentality and attitude that there are some hands, no matter how they are played, that you believe they are cursed.
One night my mum told me to put out the garbage. I told her "you cooked it, you take it out".

Re: Curse of AJ
what i am saying is, maybe you believe you are cursed, so you play if differently than you should. then because you play it badly, this reinforces the fact that you think you are cursed
its like those people that say "i always lose with AA"
thats because of 2 reasons, first is that they dont ever fold them, even when the board runs [9h] [10h] [jh] [qh] and they have the 2 black aces, and the second reason is, they only ever remember the times when they lost, not the times when it was boring and they got it in against Aq and held.
