Freeroll Tonight.
Down to 50, i was in 5th with about 27K, villain in 6th with about 26K...

300/600
UTG+1 limps, folds to me...
I am in BB with AKs - 4.5 BB raise
UTG+1 calls

flop AK6
I lead out strong (75% pot)
UTG+1 shoves
I call
UTG+1 shows 66

obviously postflop play not terrible, although the shove was like 5 times the pot. The shove made me think AQ or AJ not AK as I had it it made it somewhat unlikely, and certainly not 66 given preflop play...

How do you call 4.5BB pre with 6s and yet have played well enough previously to build such a stack?? Got me stuffed... Maybe, like this hand they just got lucky a lot?

have to say that is pretty standard man - and you paid him off when he shoved

the preflop call by him is extremely calling stationy. which sucks, but its the type of player u have to deal with

and think, are you always getting it in when u flop top 2 on a board like that? if the answer is yes, then just pay him off, then throw your keyboard out the window

The 4.5BB raise is a little much methinks - you want to get rid of stupid hands but you don't want to kill action escpecially if many have already folded.

His call here seems to suggesgst he has a strong hand, so you could quite easily put him on AQ/AJ/AK but the call could also mean AA/KK which has you beat. With a huge stack and plenty of time MAYBE you could have folded BUT we are never folding top two pair given the level of play in the league. Always a problem here - the player could have AA and push just as much as he could have A6 or A2 and push.

I should say that I would've played this hand post flop exactly the same as you did every day of the week and twice on sundays.

I would also be here whinging abt it a few minutes later.

if it makes you feel any better aaron, i got my kings in on a T66 board and ran into K6 to cripple me in the cash game, and in the freeroll i got my AJ in against KJ on a jack high board and he rivered the king.

No one is folding this postflop, so lets throw that out the window.

Preflop, I would've preferred 3/4BB. Why waste another 300 if you miss a flop and cbet/fold to a shove or c/f? If you were vs a few limpers I could understand, but for a HU pot like this I would've gone 3 or 4BB, probably 3.5 at the most.

His call is standard, postflop is standard. Its nowhere near a beat. So he's limped 600 and you raise to 2700? (4bb = 2400, .5 of a BB 300, total = 2700). Or what it 3300 total? Either way, with his stack size here the call isn't horrible. Its probably not idealllllll, but its super standard for 888pl.

If we're going to talk about beats tonight, I think I win.

I get home from Kapunda and load the freeroll. I have 1965 at 25/50, awesome. Third hand back, there's an open shove for 2k, I call with QQ. Shove has 99 and flops a 9. Out.

Few minutes into the cashie, I have KK at 25/50. Open raise to 834. I flat, UTG flats. I jam a 443r flop, UTG rejams. The original raiser calls, covering us both, with AJo. River A. Out.

It happens.

Yeah, i didnt intend this as a 'bad beat' post, I dont think of it as such, but AK would you really call such a raise from an out of position player with 66?

I was more than happy to pickup the 1500 in the middle with my raise preflop. Thats still 5%ish of my stack. and we all know AK can be a bugger of a hand to play post flop. Thats really why I raised so much preflop... Didnt really expect a call... I had seen them limp/fold a number of prior hands.

Even though I said I figured a strongish Ace as their range postflop, the possibility of a bluff (semi-bluff) trying to make me think THEY had AK by coming over the top of me on the flop also went through my mind. It wasnt exactly an intacall, although it only took me about 6-7 seconds to make up my mind to call.

It was the preflop play I was mainly stumped over... of course he is going to play his set hard postflop, but if anyone could put them on a set there, thats a pretty darn good read, so yeah I paid him off by calling, my fault, but thats not really what I was posting about...

In this situation? No. Your hand screams strength. But there are times when I would, definitely.

He's looking to set mine. He probably puts you on a high pair/big Ace, and if the flop is 623, or A6x, he'll stack off at this level a LOT of the time (not against you, but 888pl players in general, who fall in love with top pair).

Preflop is standard.
