Two pair facing turn shove.

Postby maccatak11 » Mon Sep 21, 2009 8:24 am

$2/$3 NL holdem, effective stacks $180 (me. other players in this hand had similar amounts, except for villain who had around $500 - $600 in front of him).

Im on the button and get dealt [kc][qs]

UTG raises to $20 and there is a mid position caller, i decide to flat call also, as does the small blind, BB folds.

Flop [ac][ks][qc]

SB checks, initial raiser checks, as does MP, so i bet $50.

SB tanks for a little while and calls, all others fold.

I instantly put the SB on Ace-Rag, definately didnt look strong enough for JT, and def. didnt have a set but i could prob include flush/gutshot combo's in this range also.
Reads on villain: pretty tight pre, but once he got involved in a hand was loath to let it go and showed down with the worst hand a lot of times (mid pair etc). Magicked his stack up by flopping trips with 67 off suit in a 5 way pot for a $400 pot earlier.

Turn [2h]

UTG bets $120 which is enough to put me all in.

What are you doing here and why??

why is he check flatting a $50 on the flop then leading out for $120 after a brick comes.

I think your inital read is correct and he has ace rag, and wants you off your draw ( but that still doesnt answer the question about his flat on the flop )

so i dunno, but i think i would be comitting my chips
Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

Results: my read was pretty much correct and i snap called. The only thing was that the rag he had with his ace was in fact a duece so i got stacked in a $400 and someting pot (seriously, who calls $50 OOP with A2 on that board with two people still to act - i was pretty pissed off)

I kept thinking that my $50 into $83 (by my calculations) flop bet was too small, what are peoples thoughts here? Noone really looked strong, so i did want to play for stacks in this hand, barring a flush card, T or J on the turn or river, so i guess i got what i wanted. But still, i was annoyed.

I had been stacked the night before too with AA all in on a J 8 2 rainbow board by a guy shoving twice the pot with 9 T and hitting the river for another $400 pot, so wasn't the best weekend at Crown. Played really well i thought and still came home with nothing.

Oh. You were playing at crown. It all makes sense now.

Yeah. On that flop, you are so far ahead you might as well shove, roll your cards, stand up and scream "COME RUN ME DOWN!".

You have better EV+ that way. You may induce a fold occasionally. Maybe.
