Omaha help - Should I be betting this flop?

Postby rcon » Sat Nov 28, 2009 7:41 pm

I've flopped the nuts or 2nd nuts a few times lately, and I dont think I'm getting as much value as I can. 4 way, I thought I was fairly safe betting here to get at least one to come along.

Full Tilt Pot-Limit Omaha, $0.50 BB (5 handed) - Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

MP ($70.30)
Button ($15.55)
SB ($50)
BB ($54.45)
Hero (UTG) ($52.75)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 7Image, 8Image, KImage, 9Image
Hero calls $0.50, MP calls $0.50, Button calls $0.50, 1 fold, BB checks

Flop: ($2.25) 9Image, KImage, 9Image (4 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $1, 3 folds

Total pot: $2.25 | Rake: $0.10

It's pretty dry unless someone has a worse 9. You wouldn't have to worry about a bigger pair making a bigger house so unless the table is aggro I'd just check.
We've how about links I would like to know I walk the line scrunches line at how the client Lawrence etc. etc.

With such a good monster and a lot of other players drawing thing, a lot easier to check call and be a nut peddler the entire way.

I had the same issue and thought about it as well.

I reraised on a J 3 4 rainbow board holing JJAx. Obviously being wary of straights on the turn, i should have check called to get more value and induce a few more bets on the other streets.

Your also not letting any of the other players improve their hands. Think if the board has an ace drop, or even better gives a flush draw and a straight draw out there. Can get people to bet to get extra value into the hand and pay you off.

So check call the flop, see how the turn is for your hand - lower card - check call, higher card call - might have cause to repot. River is always weak here, lead to get a reraise, or weak lead to get an extra bet into the pot.

also by checking the flop you can keep the pot small incase the hand does go bad. You will still get paid off but better to small ball and get extra value than big ball it and get bugger all.

Brett.

Brett, are we ever really small balling this flop/board?

When the pot is $2 preflop and we have a monster we need some extra value to boost pot and get some movement.

Continuation of $1 or $2 unless you have been playing crazy aggro Isildur1 styles, you will get auto folds. If your image is of the crazy man that leads at every flop, then you might get one or two callers.

The other issue is the players involved

MP ($70.30)
Button ($15.55)
BB ($54.45)

BB checks, we bet out, we don't get a continuation bet from the short stacker, or give MP to lead at the flop if he has a hand. Remembering that our stack is around $52.

So if our image is tight, we can induce the bet from MP or Button.

So thinking of stacks and image.
Tight - Lead Out - No Callers - $2
Tight - Check - 1 min - 1 caller - repot - $3
Tight Check - 1 min - 1 caller - call - $3 + Turn action

Loose - Lead out - 2 callers - $5
Loose - Check - Betting action???? - Approx $5 + Turn Action
Loose - Check - Check - $2 + Turn Action

Knowing Rcon, he is playing tight, so best move is for checking in a vain attempt to get action.

in my limited knowledge of omaha, i would say that you have to check it here. this IS a time for slow playing.

Oh checking to induce is fine, the way it reads though it seems like you were talking about small balling invade we lose to a better hand.

Which is, IMO, a cooler. But then I guess that's Omaha :)
