Can we fold KK here?

Postby gmatical » Fri Jan 28, 2011 7:21 pm

Effective stacks ~250,000

Blinds 1000/2000/500 ante

No reads but it is a high buy in tourney so all players are assumed very good

Us (KK) UTG Raise 9,000
MP Call 9,000
Villan Re-raise 30,000
Us Re-raise 66,000
MP Fold
Villan Re-raise 105,000
Us ??????

Is the villans 2nd re-raise ever anything but A A?

Do we shove, fold or flat call??

Tough spot.

Just a note, your bet sizing at this level us not great, this deep into a tourney, your raise should be no more than 5k, even a min raise is fine and is what I would usually do

It also means his 4bet will be to like 45k instead of 66k which makes it a bit easier to play because the stacks are deeper, and you could even flat and evaluate because it's only 1/5 of our stack instead of 1/4

At higher stakes, this can be a lot more than just aces, but it does look super strong

LOL - good hand to discuss, took me awhile to realise why it sounded so familiar.

A bunch of us discussed this very hand tonight at dinner and we could not decide on anything about this hand.

I think honestly there is a lot of metagame at play here and the open from UTG is rather large and smells fishy, hence why the four bettor could be doing so with TT+. I won't go into many more details and I will leave it up to the other forum members to pipe up.

I know I'd be seeing a flop for another 39K here considering approx 180K+ pot and still left with 150K behind...
What?, poker without the river??, you've just made my dreams come true!!!

This is actually an early stage of the tourney (1st or 2nd level)- tourney had super deep stacks with a fairly rapid structure.

So, based on the actual action - what is your play benny the cunt?

I agree with this sort of, but as it is super early in the tourney - i kinda downplayed metagame a little, but then again they may have played together a zilion times.

As the villan is known as a live pro - i would respect his raises - especially 4 bets that are essentially committing him for his whole stack (in most cases).

But tough spot no doubt.

All thoughts from all people on this hand are welcomed - lets here some thoughts on a puzzling hand
