Self-defeating

Postby BigPete33 » Thu Nov 01, 2007 11:51 pm

I'm silly.

one of my fave hands, which I like more and more everytime I play it, is 9 10 (doesn't even have to be suited).

Final table tonight at the Bremen, there's a player allin before me - with myself being allin to call - and I have 9 10. I was also positive the next player after me was going to call.

The ONLY reason I didn't play it was because I put the original alliner on a high pocket pair and the guy after me I placed on 2 high cards with one most likely an ace (he was reaching for his chips quicksmart after having a very quick look at his cards).

So I folded, hoping one would get knocked out.

NUP!

The guy after me ended up with a flush but he was the shorter of the 2 stacks so no1 got knocked out.

I can't remember all the cards on the table but most of it was 10 10 6 6. Woulda had a boat.

Instantly started hating myself :(

Was probably the turning point at the final table for me too, would have had a very decent stack and been in a much better position to go on and win. Ended up in 3rd.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Hey BigPete

I think you're being way too hard on yourself.

If you're gonna relive your poker life on would of's and could of's you are gonna go nuts real quick.

I was there at the Bremen and I dont believe you could have played that hand any differently considering the amount of callers prior to your decision.

It's not a hard game.....

Yeah, then you started chipping up through me like always.

You made some great calls towards the end of the night though, you diserved to be there for that fightback from next to dead in the first half hour.

Next time i wont go chasing after the nut flush, clubs and hearts are just never kind to me.

I wouldn't call that self defeating Pete! one out of 10 times you'd probably win that :) Well done on third!

I didn't think you were off to the Bremen last night (after being out Tues/Wed) so I went to the Settlers. Man, does the smoke free laws change things a lot - doesn't even feel like a pub anymore.

Some old guy on our table was winning chips, with good hands, but didn't really know what he was doing ("What's this one worth?")

When the blinds were $1k/$2k I went all in with $6k with

[7c] [7s]

and he called.

He turned over

[kh] [2c]

Wtf are you calling for?

Board went

[as] [ad] [qh] - [kh] - [qc]

Not only did I have the worst hand, my best hand was on the board :/

I love that "any paints a winner attitude"

it's what makes pub poker so interesting hehe

By the way....did BigPete mention that he sucked out a 6 on the river against KJ on his BB with 86 to stay alive on the final table in the first place :D

Freerolls.....you gotta love it!!

I block out things like that happening, so used to it happening to me I just pretend it never happened and everything is still good in the world :)

by the way, I still had 3k because you were kind enough to not put me allin to call :)
