I was one of the fortunate players to have qualified for the State Finals held yesterday (first flight).
Like all players I was hoping to do well.......
After all the intros were completed it was time to "shuffle up and deal". I received my first hand and duly folded.......ah crap, would have made a Jack high straight on the River........never mind there is always next hand I said to myself.
Hand two....Pocket Jacks.......bewdy....let's bet on these.....$300 sounds like a good bet......two Callers...bewdy.....flop comes, 3.6.A no help....ok let's bet $600...see what happens...one caller, Turn card , 2 no help, check,check.....River another A......bet $600...other player "All in" .........ah crap again.... I'm in trouble...reluctantly Fold.
Hand Three...Pocket Jacks again.......can't believe it !!!.....maybe this time !!!! try a slow play just call the blinds, every man and his dog are in....flop comes, crap, crap,crap...jeez no help here either , oh well I figure I'm in front so here we go again $500, got a caller. Turn again no help to me, other player bets $1,000....reluctantly Fold again........Damn.
As I'm sitting there contemplating how the hell I was going to get out of this mess I'm in my attention turns to the song playing on the radio....it's Pete Murray's song "Got my Fingers Burned"......how Ironic.....6 hands later I was doing the walk of shame up the ramp.........That's Poker !!!
