ok, i have a scenario on the other side of the spectrum.

probably 6 months ago, i was at the casino in a 2/3 game. the player to my right was obviously inexperienced, and was a massive fish.

whenever he looked at his cards, he pretty much clearly showed them to me. unintentional on his part, but most of the time i could see them. at one point he noticed that i was looking in his direction, so i pretended i was looking at the sport on tv behind him (which i was doing anyway)

for about an hour, i continued to look at his cards and then act accordingly. i won a couple of nice pots. i can still remember one time where there was a raise in early positon, and this guy calls with AJ, so i 3bet with 88 and this guy calls. then i take it down on the flop for close to a $100 pot.

firstly, i will say that i have never done this in 888pl games, i as i believe that 888pl is a learning environment. so if i can see someone's cards, and i am in the hand, i will always tell the table. or if i am out of the hand, i will just quietly mention it to them after the hand has played out.

but the question is

is it wrong for me to look at someone's cards at the casino, or is it the other player's responsibility to protect their hole cards?

players responsibility for sure

obv. its wrong if your fully leaning over to try and look at their hole cars, but if they cant squeeze their cards without it being visible by the person next to them then thats their fault.

in the situation where the player exposes the cards to you by there own doing, then you just use it to your advantage

at the end of the day, its their fault not yours, so capitilize on it

my opinion is if the player is dumb enough to be not protecting his cards properly, then game on..

Depends on who it was. It would be bad karma to exploit some kindly old person or a true beginner who was playing at the casino (for whatever reason).

If it was benny the cunt I'd look at his cards and then steal his wallet.
We've how about links I would like to know I walk the line scrunches line at how the client Lawrence etc. etc.

I've said this before here. It is YOUR responsibilty to protect YOUR cards. If you expose your cards so that I can see them I will let you know once that I can see your cards when you look at them like that.
If you continue to do it after that, you better believe I am going to look and take advantage of it.
You were given fair warning.

Poker is a game of information, if you ant to take the guess work out for me then thank you very much!

If the dealer is exposing cards I'll let them know until they get it right.

I think for me, I couldn't continue to do it. I would tell them that I could see their cards. Maybe too honest for my own good sometimes?! but also I am a big believer in karma. By doing what I considered to be the right thing, I will be rewarded in the future.

But this is me, if it works out for you & you feel okay about it........go for it!

it probably comes down to the reason i am playing.

if i am at the casino, i am there to make money.

i am a strong believer in etiquette, but this doesn't seem to fall into that category

in a pub game however, i will always tell people that i can see, because we are there for fun and learning first and foremost.
