there should be a bonus for the tournament winner, perhaps a stock 200 points on top of your percentage
it would make it interesting to see people go for gold rather than settle for a placing regularly.
For someone to win and only gain an extra 4-8 points over the person in second is robery

Where do you play Rick?
And remember in terms of poker skills, at the majority of tournaments, by the time it does get to heads up it's a crap shoot. Blinds extremely high, both players shortstacked, all in is the only move.
And then it becomes about the cards not about skillful play.
I think a top 3 to 5 placing in any tournament is worthy of decent points. And because of this the points are only slightly scaeld at the top end.

i just think the margins aren't good enough incentive for the top 3, i've seen so many people pick on the least experienced player on the table and sit with the chips and just fold til they're blinded out week after week, if it was someone shortstacked with no options that's fair but for the same people to go to the venue everyweek and just place with no intentions on ever winning and still make the state finals isn't really fair.
The people with the ability to challenge should be rewarded,
the scale is way to tight and easily abused.
There's no pressure on the regulars.
I play all round metro south, mostly the emu and christies
You may know me as the guy with the jester hat :P

Well... the aim of the weekly game is to get to the State Finals. Sure you play to win as well but if someone wants to get the points for the finals or to rack up as many points as possible in the hopes of knocking off the top 50, just folding's the thing to be doing.

At least you know who has an easy blind at the later stages of the game.
In all seriousness there are a lot of players who do this. It is a strategy and it works for them.
There will be bigger rewards in the following seasons for event winners. Such as more sat. seats into Australasian poker tournaments and a few other things which I cannot openly discuss as we are still in negotiations with the parties involved.

The points spread is fairly even as far as I am concerned at the moment. And believe me the Melbourne Boys spent many months debating this topic and this was the best and only points structure they could arrive at to satisfy all parties.

Are you serious good sir?

Consistently accruing points over the course of the season is precisely what it's all about.

You'll find there are prize packs and venue prizes for the winners, if you don't find them adequate then by all means suggest something else.

here's a tip, try knocking out the 'regulars who just sit there' or maybe just play better and you'll win anyway :P
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!
