Everything generally is carefully considered, I don't make decisions lightly. And there are reasons why we don't want to stipulate strict conditions or offer time frames or complicate things too much.
So I suggest (to the person whose post I deleted above), that perhaps, I am allowed to have a debate or discussion with players on here before reaching my decisions. Is that allowed? Or should I perhaps just make decisions without talking it through with players. Especially those who sought the clarification and just don't jump on the end to offer snide comments.

Re: Qualification for future Grand Finals
Oh dear .... so that means i have to play 20 games this season to qualify for the next GF
....
I think i only played 3-4 games last season .... so i need 16 odd to qualify for the next one anyway ...
, and i am sure i will make it ...
I believe it should be the 10 games in the current season for the said GF ! ! (eg. the next GF , one will need at least the 10 games played this current season , starting 4th Jan to when it ends ...
Like an AFL player who qualifies to play finals for their said SANFL team ! !
I think the 20 over 2 will be a good thing also , but this need to be put in place then allow a little leniency for the next one as the ruling has just come in , to be fair to those just starting their 888pl season now , for what ever reason !

And hence why I didn't want to go into details or stipulate time frames. I am happy as long as players are still playing in venue and there are no "ring ins" playing in the 888PL Grand Final.

Garth Kay wrote:Ok I've thought it through.
We will change the stipulation to 10 games per season to qualify for any upcoming finals.
So if you qualify for the GF that must mean 20 games split over the two seasons.
I'll get it all changed on Monday.
I think this is what every assumed it was already! Clarification is appreciated though - I was of the same view as Pete, didn't want idiots running up to you a few days before the GF complaining that they had played their 10 games.

I like whatever rule you come up with that says Aaron can't make it.

OK ill make a more carefully considered response. I believe player consulation and feedback that players have given 888pl, and the way they have enacted upon this in the past has been an absaloute strength of 888pl.
However in this particular case, a piece of communication has been pointed out by numerous people (Pete, Ben, AK) as being quite ambiguous and hard for people to understand. I don't believe that it overcomplicates things to give quite specific guidelines and stipulations to ensure that all people are clear about the rules.
The debate here was not about the actual decision made, rather the way that it was communicated. The way that something is communicated is not something that needs debating, and i believe that this is one of too many instances that communication (not decisions or policies, communication) has been subpar and confusing.
So Garth, i apoligise for coming across as snide in my previous post, but i believe that there needs to be greater care taken to ensure all things made public are trialled, critiqued and correct in the first place, rather than debating how serious each mistake is after the fact (read: the new website, new registration etc).
Riskers gamble, experts calculate.

Re: Qualification for future Grand Finals
Thanks Matt.
Apology accepted.
Ok, I don't want to denigrate anybody here, but you all must be aware that when we communicate, we communicate to the lowest common denominator. And in the world of 888PL that can be pretty low.
Yes I know the qualification criteria is ambiguous, but it is only ambiguous for the select few such as the well learned and articulate on this forum. I would rather say just play in venue at least once every fortnight and everything is cream. But then people would take that seriously and would only play once per forntight in fear of breaching rules.
I understand the need for strict rules and stipulations, but in this case, keeping it simple and just trying to deliver a message of "support the venues" and remain active in 888PL is much easier to players via the above phrase than stipulating time frames for games to get played.
If we were to create these stipulations and enforce the strict guidelines even more confusion and chaos would reign, and it would be provided by the majority who do not have access to the communication tools or skills required to approach 888PL or to understand our responses.
Does everyone here understand what I am getting at now??
In the scheme of things I don't really care about the game qualification, as long as players continue to play in venue and support their local and don't drop off as soon as they have won their GF seat.
As to the website and software development! Don't even get me started on that. These things are completely out of my control and if you ken about the sleepless nights and how hard I am working to get everything rectified your heart would break with true pity
but seriously, I am busting my hump and shitting bricks to provide the website that players deserve.
I am right now focused on fixing score boards, account linking, online results and player points. We have A LOT of issues and that is even before I move on to website content and navigation.
Thanks for the post Matty, you don't know how much I appreciate it when we all talk constructively!
