I did not like it very much he was loud and abusive and he did not know much about the game,
The Crows won and Brett Burton took a Speccy , I was happy , but now I stay home and watch the footy on my TV.

Dear 888pl ?? which team should I now support..??

Ummm......WTF???

You can't really mean that last sentence?
I'll attribute this to the 2.18 am post time ;)

bennymocha wrote:So why are you so annoyed?

From my reading of the thread, it sounded like CT originally was just asking what the policy was, after having a 9th player seated at same table, and possibly became annoyed as thread grew?? I didnt get a sense of annoyance from the first 4 posts by CT....

Conspiracy Theorist wrote:Not trying to be a smartass but the TDs job is not to follow the path of least resistance. This has always been what seperates 888pl from the rest.

You're right its not, but it is their job to provide the best game/service to ALL players, which I think Paul and Caleb did a reasonable job of explaining why the reserve* seating policy is the way it is, and its the fact they manage to do this week after week, venue after venue that separates them...
I think its expecting too much for an extra table to be setup incase more show up than can reasonably be expected.
*Why alternate Caleb/any TC? doesn't seem to fit imho. Not like its an either/or proposition which alternate implies?

Probably gonna get accused of stirring the pot here, but...
Some consistency is in order I feel:

bennymocha wrote:I don't think it necessarily has to be constructive. I am well within my rights to say that i don't like something and o don't have to give reasons why. Whether that is helpful or not is debatable but it's not slander or defamation

bennymocha wrote:because if you dont give reasons why you don't like something, you just sound whiney and people are less likely to help you.

so how about you post something constructive, and say WHY you don't like it

Nothing personal toward you benny the cunt, I would have flagged this irrespective of who posted (and anonamizing the quote pointless here). Perhaps like Caleb's quote above, 11.55pm on a Saturday night may explain the disparity :P "hicc"

well done on posting out of context AJG.

you will also notice the bit about being "helpful"

now since this is in the ask 888pl section, obviously CT is wanting a response. if he is just having a whinge then it should be in another thread

Sorry, how is it out of context?

Yes, I did notice the bit about 'helpful'. It was also the bit about "I have the right..." I was thinking of when I posted that. Also about constructive content...

And CT posted and did get a response, from 2 staff... But which other thread would you suggest?

Please dont take it personally, I tried to say was not intended so...

Edit: The whole "NPL coming to Adelaide" thread should (arguably) have been posted under 'Ask the 888PL', so again how is context misplaced here...

Here is something for you to ponder.....Just cause a table has 8 cup holders doesn't exactly mean its for 8 players it would be stupid to run tables short handed when we can slip a "late player" in somewhere, we are not gonna tell this person to go away as its not in the best interests of the VENUE!!!
But the Final Table with a dealer is Dealt 9 HANDED, correct?? therefore just because the round tables have 8 cupholders in them doesn't mean we have to run the tables 8 handed

At the end of the day you have to keep it fair for all and we try to keep the tables close to 8 handed as possible, but its sometimes not really quite so easy, especially when you are dealing with between 40-90 players at a single event, but i guarantee as soon as a player was knocked out that i and/or any TC would have them Balanced almost straight away !!!!

Well said Paul, thats what I meant by TCs job being to run games in best interest of all players involved, not those just already seated...

I kind of do. 9000 with 200/400 blinds is fine. To be a player grinding away for hand after hand, running into people playing hands differently because they still have passports, playing for an indefinate amount of time just because we still have alternates? Not as fine. I'm not saying its a big disadvantage, but one nonetheless.

Alternates in CBI's are mostly late rego's. You play any buy-in at a casino and see what their alternate policy is. You will usually see a player cap with capped alternates for this reason.

AJG wrote:*Why alternate Caleb/any TC? doesn't seem to fit imho. Not like its an either/or proposition which alternate implies?

Alternates is the correct term. We were informed of this by management when CBIs were first introduced. Not sure how well it has caught on. There is a reasoning behind it, mostly to do with how reserves WILL be seated, alternates are only possible, but the exact wording escapes me at the moment.

And it is actually an either/or proposition. Alternates in a CBI are not guaranteed a seat.
