I would suggest a worthy delegate from the B & G to this PRC would be Bob B.

Would this 26 member Council have an executive .. If yes then in all sincerity Bob B for President.

I don't think it matters who the players want on the council, if that person is not liked by the top man, they will not get a seat.

For example, I have always liked the Cougar (even though he annoys the majority - by your own admissions). I think he would be a great embodiment of your Council.

In summary, I agree with everything that Pete said. I could only have said it with more 'colour'. ;)

Definitely agree with that comment. If it just becomes a popular vote then there obviously would be a need for management to have the final deciding vote.

As to Cougar or Bob B, I honestly believe it is always a good thing to have a voice that plays devils advocate or has some very valid points to be included on all facets of the NPL organisation. The issue with Cougar was the way he presented his arguments over the forum.

And obviously in the position I am in, I already have formed thoughts on which players I would like to see in these positions for both states. But in the end I would like to see players make a determined vote and form their own opinion on the players they would like to put in this sort of position.

In the end we may not move forward with this proposition simply based on the conflict of interest that may arise.

My post is a threefold reply to Bruce, Shannon and Garth.

To Bruce;
Thank you for your kind thoughts Bruce even though it was a little tongue in cheek and your post was recorded pre April first or was it??? :o However, I'm sure I would be on the most "unwanted Garth list" M8.

Unfortunately, I don't totally agree with Garths reasons behind a Players Representative Council. And on those grounds I wouldn't offer or accept a position on the council.

To Shannon;
I think it's ditto for you too Shannon in both EDITTED BY BOB AS IT SHOULD READ BRUCE and Garths posts. I also agree with Big Pete in some of his post as well as your own. ;)

To Garth, and obviously anyone else who cares to read my view on the subject.
Most of us were or still are members of some sort of club such as footy, cricket, soccer, tennis etc, etc, or like myself speedway. We may have played for the club or had family involvement and possibly held various positions on the committee and ran the odd raffle or two.

My point is that we treat NPL the same way because the games are held at our local pubs or clubs and our friends and relatives are there so it's just like a club thing for most. The difference is that NPL is not our club, in reality it is, or will be, a Multi Million Dollar Business.

Having a Players council to initially help NPL formulate or fine tune their code of conduct, rules, regulations and penalties etc, with an overall player / NPL prospective is a great idea.

So, when one or more of the NPL's "payed employees" need to issue a penalty that is related to the "code of conduct" they will have a penalty to match the offence. No more hairy, fairy guess work on their behalf!!!

What if a hearing is required?
Again it should be heard by a selected group made up from the NPL's staff and or contractors. NPL isn't any different to the pub down the road with a patron type problem. I'm sure they don't ask one or more of their patrons to hand down a decission that may ban the offending patron and cause repercussions on the other patrons. :?

So, to expect the Players Council to also pass judgement on their fellow player on behalf of the NPL doesn't ring true to me. Especially now, as we are moving closer to Cash games in the very near future. Who is responsible if their decision causes a loss of prize money to the offender due to their decision.

Garth, you and I share the same opinion regarding this forum. It's an excellent melting pot for ideas and suggestions. By initially selecting a few of the more serious and sincere players to offer their opinions and ideas in say a weekend work shop hosted by the NPL would get a big tick from me. ;)

Future monthly or bi-monthly meetings would allow up-dates from both sides and help maintain or offer fresh, new, ideas or problems that may require attention both parties attention.

And yes Garth, I did read ALL of your threads at least twice to see if I was mis-reading your thoughts. You may or may not agree with me as I may or may not agree with you. But I'm sure we both have a similar goal in mind, don't we????? :)

The council would also act as a tribunal, in conjunction with the PM

In conjunction with the PM. But we can scrap this aspect.

To Shannon;
I think it's ditto for you too Shannon in both Brett and Garths posts.

I think it's acceptable to say that anyone working for an alternate provider (read: competition, sort of) would not be permitted to sit on an NPL players rep council. Most of you are all stating there is a big enough conflict of interest simply from a players perspective. At the moment we have three contributors to this forum who work for alternative suppliers of pub poker. We allow them to contribute and discuss what they want, but do you honestly believe that some posts are not affected in the slightest by ulterior motives at times?

But why would you have to bring my brother into this Bob?

However, I'm sure I would be on the most "unwanted Garth list" M8.

How far off the mark you are Bob. Bob, I will be brutally honest here: you can be an absolute dick on this forum at times. But in person you are a fantastic bloke, and a well rounded individual in all aspects of his personal and professional life, who in the right environment could contribute so much more to NPL and Players in a different environment. Also you are one of the minority who bucks the trend and is a true individual in every sense of the word. And don't get me wrong, I can be a dick at times as well.
