Have the top 5 from every venue, plus the top 50 averages, plus the top 50 averages over 25 games...

It won't be 650 though, it must means it might be more accurate! People are still being rewarded.

It would have meant an extra 7 people at the state finals cos the lists were basically the same names......proving the system as it stands currently is not unfair to the 90% majority

This is what I have been saying from the start! So fair and so easy! argh!

i think a few people on here need to toughen the f*#k up a bit. it's poker, free poker no less, so you didn't make the state finals, deal with it. it is not as if no one knew the way the averages for the leaderboard are calculated was going to be changed! sit down and figure out a playing scheduel that will give you a better chance in one of the FIVE seasons in 2008.

the NPL will continue to thrive if those in charge make decisions that have their business interests at heart. and frankly, the average system that was started in season 2 is not meant to take care of people who think they are superstars and that they should be represented as such on the leaderboard, it is about what is doing best for the business. it gets more people playing more poker in more venues, and at the end of the day, that is good news for everyone.

isn't it the case that the other mob have a system where fewer people from each venue qualify and people who have a good run in a given week, who might not play again after that, get through? and that some of their leaderboards run purely on total points, not averages? maybe you some of you would rather something like that be put in place?

as Garth keeps trying to say, there is no system that will please 100% of people 100% of the time.

NPL is the best thing going around, it is run in a very professional manner and anyone who has a problem with something as trivial as this should build a bridge and then cross it.

may bob be with you.

keep towing the company line...

once again i'll help you out... most if not ALL people discussing have made the state finals every time.. so its not about that at ALL. pfft.

And as some of us have said , i have no problem with with the way NPL is run... we love NPL!.. thats why we are putting in advice on the things which (we think) arent perfect!

I think we could have the best of both worlds and all of us can live in poker utopia :D

I definitely agree with that G.

Nobody is losing sleep over this, it's just constructive feedback. If there's elements that are crapping people off and we can manage to find the best possible scenario then that's awesome...if we can't then we can't.

In case any1 is wondering, I qualified for both '07 state finals (via genuine top 5 efforts) - also was lucky enough to make the Skycity satellite. It's most certainly not a case of sour grapes.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Pete, Playing more venues doesn't increase your chances of being in the top 5. It does at the level of if you play 5 venues a week for example you have 5 chances of making it into those 5 respective venues.

If i played one venue a week, i would have exaclty the same chance of making into the top 5 of that particular venue as every other player that plays there. Opponents that play at other events count for nothing in respect to the each other event.

So if you are a one event player, your chances of quailifing through that one event are exactly even to the chances of everyone else who plays there.

My average last season was 10.0 :( damn staff not gettting any points

Oh and Darren, in regards to being constructive, I mean for people to submit ideas on how the system can be improved instead of complaining about how it is failing.

I think what Pete means is that if you play five venues a week, and the same five venues, you h ave more chance of getting in to ONE top 5... therefore easier to get in to the final.

So your chances HAVE increased but it doesn't make it EASIER to qualilfy

I see what you mean, but what i mean is that you are improving your chances by allowing yourself a shot at 5 different leader boards, you still need to actually play good poker to get into the top 5. Although you play more venues, your chances don't increase based on that fact alone. you still need to be hitting the points consistantly at that respective venue to quailfy

;) because of my job i can`t play at the same venue every week my ave for season 2 ended up being around 51 if you play every where you still need to make points if you play at 2 venues a week and they are only small numbers that makes it slightly easier to qualify at a venue this season you only need 15 games and yes the bigger venues is where the top 50 will most likely come from but ask the guy who finished 9th in the state final how many he played against each week 8-) next well start to say a win doesn`t count unless you have a least 40 runners (nath sounds like a good idea) if your good enough you`ll make it one way or the other  now give me my 10 points ;)
