Procedure for away tourney reserves

Postby Conspiracy Theorist » Sat Mar 27, 2010 12:31 am

Whats the correct procedure for getting reserves seated in an away tourney?

Example

50 players rego = 6 full 8 seater tables and 2 reserves.

Whats 888pls policy?

My understanding is that when blinds hit 50/100, play continues until all reserves are seated (ie: no break until everyone is down).

ALK I guess that would apply where no other tables are available, but what if there is several stacked against the wall not being used?

It depends on each situation, if they are stacked up its probably for a reason.
I usually have a certain amount of tables set up and when 730 comes i start the game and sit the players to suit, if i have say 59 i usually run 8 tables with a couple runnig 7 handed BUT if i had 63 and started 8 tables and then 3 people walk in creating 2 reserves I make them reserves regardless of the fact if there is spare tables.
I will then not go to break till the reserves are seated and it gives the players the chance to have a go at the latecomers and they learn to be on time everyweek !!

At one of my venues i know 2 people wont be there till the end of the first blind cause they coach kids basketball teams so i always factor them into my numbers

ok so heres the situation:

I played my regular friday night away challenge game. About 10 mins into tourney, TD (not the regular guy) comes over and puts a 9th seat onto an already cramped 8 seater table and says he has 2 reserves, so two tables are running 9 handed. There is several (at least 3) tables stacked against the wall not being used. So I point this out only to be told that by the time it is set up, players will be knocked out. TD then goes on to say that this is how its done and asks which venues i play at, I mention my monday night regular foundation away game and TD tells me that it happens there "all the time."

I have played 888pl since its inception, and its previous incarnation as NPL for about 3 years and I have never seen an 8 seater tables with 9 players on it.

Thoughts?

I've played on an 8-seater with 9 people before.

And 11 on an ten-seater.
I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become

Is it like, a regular occurrence to have 9 players on an 8 seater? Seems like it should just be a one off.

I played on an 8 seater with 9.

Then we lost one

I put up my hand
"We're down to 8"
