Draws at the second break

I think it would be a good idea to chip up the people who are still in, and get their name drawn at the second break, if they have less chips than what someone coming back in would get.

I think it's $2k? well if I had say, $800 and my name was drawn, I think it suitable that I get chipped up to $2k.

Fair call, agree with that one.

Yup, it is 2k and that isn't such a bad idea at all. Just requires the moderator to make sure that you've got under the required amount and just chip you back up to 2k. I guess the easiest way would be to just take all your remaining chips and give you the 2k.

Something for the NPL staff to give some thought for the next season perhaps.

Just seems a bit unfair that someone can come in who has been knocked out and have more chips than someone who has probably played better and hung in there.

I don't mind not giving chips to people who are already in and have over $2k - just thought this was a good addition.

Completely agree with David.

There's been many a time where I've had a cold deck or several and done my best to hang in there for points (in fact, I'm darn good at that now) and some schmuck who was out first hand gets drawn back in with the same or more in chips and depending on where seated folds his/her way to points or wins their allin and then folds their way to points.

It's an OUTRAGE

I can see the reason for it from a 'keeping players at the venue' point of view but if we consider how some of the venues don't look after the players at all to begin with I suggest it's being a little too kind. Also consider that if it is such a venue, most of the ppl knocked out certainly aren't going to be hanging around and we get the situation where names are being drawn out forever just trying to find sum1 knocked out that's still there.

David's idea makes sense I think.

Another alternative I've heard of is if your name gets drawn out and you are still in the tourney then you nominate someone to be drawn back in. Will also cut down the length of the 2nd draw and maybe even help keep players at the venue too. I like the 'chip up if less than 2k' option best though.

You raise a very valid and sensible point David.
You will find that every season we will tweak and change a few (or more) of our procedures until we find whichever scenario works (the most) perfectly.
We like to offer a form of entertainment when it comes to running NPL poker players, but in saying that we wish to run the most professional and true Poker tournaments offered anywhere in the country. That is why the passport system has being adapted to reflect a true re buy/add on tourney.
Obviously we like to offer second chances for many of our players, otherwise it will eventually turn into the same faces at the same final table at every week. The second chance draws and bad beat tables are a way to offer novice players and UNLUCKY players a chance to experience the final table or deep into a tournament, whilst also being a good tool to keep "knocked out" players at the tournament.
I am always receptive and open to feedback. Whilst we can't change the current system this season, please be aware that your input has being taken on board and we will have an operations meeting discussing changes for next season in late november. I will raise this point then and we will see if we can implement it in Season 3.
Cheers!

I agree with David.

If a player gets drawn back in at the second break that person shoud be on the shortest stack or increase the stack of players still in the game to the same amount.

Being a promoter i see the reasons behind encouraging players to stay and support the venues but fair play must be encouraged, especially to the players still in the game that have battled through the field.

Just my opinion

I agree. Too many times at an NPL game I have been frustrated with having survived long enough nursing a short stack only to be taken out by a redrawn bigger stack who decides to play donkey.

Before anyone talk to me about glasshouses and stones, I have only ever been drawn back into the tournament twice - once at the Lakes Resort Hotel (late July) and a second at the Windsor (late August). On all other times I had been lucky enough to be drawn out while still in the tournament.

Don't get me wrong, donkeys, fishes, bad beats and draws are all integral parts of this great game of poker. Those don't upset me.
