Whats the exact ruling??

One TD tells me a couple of weeks ago that you can choose to keep a turned over second card when dealing if it has passed the blinds,,,, and another TD said you can never keep a turned over card..
Thats confusing

my understanding is that you can never keep a turned over card, ever

if the turned over card is dealt to one of the blinds, then it is a misdeal, and has to be started again (after a shuffle of course). in any other position, that card is mucked, and another card is dealt after all others are dealt.

is this right?

What does it say in the rule book that there's a link to on the left hand side of the main page of this site?

just had a look then, and its definitely a misdeal if one of the first two cards are flipped

cant find the bit about having the choice to keep your card, but it doesnt seem right to me.

Simple rule of thumb.

In Hold em, its more a game of information, if someone knows what one or both of your cards are. Then you are at a disadvantage.

So if a card is exposed past the blinds, it gets replaced with the first burn card.

E.g.
D,SB,BB,1,2,3,4,5

So SB is deal first, then BB, Player 1 card is exposed. Goes into the middle, 2 gets next card and so on. Once we have finished the deal, PLayer 1 gets the burn card. The exposed is put on top of the deck, still exposed. So everyone knows what card has been exposed. Don't try and hide it dealer.

If 2 or more cards are exposed, then it becomes a misdeal. Also if the first card for either blind is exposed, also declared a misdeal.
