On your laptop or your computer turn off the wireless switch. or disable through control panel somewhere.

Just did ipconfig again ipv4 and subnet mask are the same but have link local IPv6 address now: fe80: :2485:7f1:d638:2b6d%10 if that helps

No problems can only try. Think Dave has the best idea of it all. Can only do what i have done when had issues. If your connected wirelessly and plug an ethernet cable in. Seems to play havoc, at least it does with my laptop at the Office. :-).

Yeah the other computer works on the net. I wonder if it has anything to do with the powerbeing turned off for the 2 weeks while we were all on holidays. I haven't had any dramas with my lap top and made no significant changes.

You need a default gateway
Default Gateway is what your laptop deciudes to go through for general WAN access.

Your laptop has been given an IP etc from the router but it should also have a default gateway. It doesn't, hence saying there's limited connectivity (you're connected to the router and whatever else is there, and nothing else)
