After a check of the BoM site their predicted track has yasi crossing the coast around the Mission Beach area which puts Tully right in line with the eye.

Cairns and Townsville should be ok with heavy rain and gale force winds, unlike Tully Ingham Cardwell and Innisfail are more in line for a heavy pasting.
42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot.

pretty sure its big enought that the actual landfall point won't matter too much - Cairns to Townsville will see flooding to a certain degree - storm surges will corresponds with hightide at 10pm tonight.

My cousin's place in townsville is expected to be in the flood area - he's left his housemate there taking all the furniture upstairs.

agree with this - from what i read earlier today, the winds will still be about the same as a category 3 cyclone at cairns and townsville even if it lands somewhere in between, so there will still be a lot of damage done i think.

hopefully everyone is evacuated and there isn't any loss of life

The winds were gusting at 190km/hr at Willis island before the weather station/island was destroyed - was watching that on BoM before it went offline

Cairns had a lack of removal vans yesterday as all the shops in the CBD tried to move their stock to higher ground.
