Oh. I thought I read somewhere it was 400ish km wide. Hardly matters.

Amazing stuff. ABC News24 is showing some great coverage of this. Looks like it will be the biggest storm in Australia's history! Queenslanders just cant catch a break at the moment.

Re: Cyclone Yasi
I've suffered the effects of Cyclone Masi.
I've got friends in Townsville & Cairns; hope they have battened down.
Facebook will get a good viewing tomorrow to hear the stories

Re: Cyclone Yasi
I lived in Ingham for a few years and have friends and family there. We are all so worried about them all. And the ones in Townsville and Innisfail. So far we have been able to maintain contact but the wind is picking up now. Really hope they all come through it safely. One family was due to come and stay here for a holiday tomorrow. Don't think they will be here, worst luck, at least they would have been safe here.

I'm lucky I don't have any family there.
Hope everyone's loved ones are ok!

QLD just can't take a trick.
Property damage and flood damage can be fixed at the end of the day. The most important thing is human life and I have my fingers crossed everyone keeps safe.

Did no one else even find this comment slightly amusing?!
It is terrible what has happened in QLD recently, but Bacon this comment certainly made me chortle.

Re: Cyclone Yasi
As someone who has experienced a tornado (tore our roof off and sent it sailing but still nowhere near as catastrophic as Yasi will be) I fear for all those affected and really have no sense of humor in relation to this.
I have a lot of friends and colleagues in that area and I am praying for all North Queenslanders tonight; for those that know me they will realise that praying is quite a large step for me. God and I stopped talking quite a long time ago, but right now I am willing to admit a truce to ensure that all people get through this safely; physically, emotionally and psychologically.
