Re: Tony G - Awesome or Douche
Deffinately a fully blown wanka and doesn't need to be a knob and disrespect other players at the table.
I'm surprised the powers to be allow him to carry on the way he does.
The 24 hour UK Cash game was funny and not abusive when Tony G kept out playing Hellmuth.
We just had a major post on here about a guy who got a little out of hand and he was busted for 3 months.
Tony G gets what from their so called controlling body???

Re: Tony G - Awesome or Douche
I listened to that interview, thanks jak n bmac.
Tony G, wow - he seems like a real unusual bloke. Unusual in the ense that he seems less selfish than other big name players (Negraneau, Schwatz, Helmuth etc) but still pushes his own adgenda.
I think poker, particularly at the 'highest level', draws nerdy, wealthy, un-assured yet still strongly ego driven people. People with a desire to shine, but without the polish to do so. Now, there are many talents that break this mould (Mercier, Durr Galfond etc), and another category of entertainers without regard for results. G is definately in this category.
In his interview, he said alot without really saying much. After the relentless Isldur1 promo, i was happy to hear about the relationship the 2 have and the fact that he genuinely seemed happy that he took a better deal for himself rather than than take Tony G's offer (whatever that was) & I was almost proud to hear that he stood up for Isulder1 as he felt the 'sharks' murdered him in a calculated manner.
By his own admission he does not seem like the toughest opponent for Isulder, and it seemed like a stunt to get publicity for his sponser Party Poker.
Shame the interviewers didn't push a few points harder eg. what specifically does Ralph Perry do that is bad behaviour, perhaps exactly what went down with Devilfish regarding the near fight, some texas dolly type russian anecdotes or perhaps his thoughts on his countryman (Lisandro's) recent thoughts on the dominance of FTP & stars on live rakes etc.
But, he is definately more awesome than douchey IMO

Re: Tony G - Awesome or Douche
Tony G played one of our events a while ago, he was just sitting downstairs eating dinner at the pub saw us and played for a while, and he was a complete gentleman extremely friendly and showed nothing of his TV persona.
I still voted for complete douche though, man I hate watching him play, at the $100k buyin at the last Aussie Millions, he even brought in a bike so he could tell people to 'get on your bike, here have mine' it was to much.
