I rang my mobile phone company to get the sim lock removed from my phone.

At Easter we will be travelling in some areas where my telco and a few others have poor coverage, with that in mind I asked the my telco to remove my sim lock, without much delay my phone was unlocked free.

Thanks 3

3 roam onto telstra, so i am guessing you are going bush where the only phone you would be able to use is telstra next g.

i am on 3, and in general they have been pretty good, certainly the best value for money out there. soon i will be getting an iphone however, and since gawler is not in their broadband zone, i am going to switch to optus.

anyone have comments on optus in general?

benny the cunt check the coverage maps I think gawler is in the new 3g mega area for 3 customers because with my Nokia N97 I had 3g coverage there a couple of weeks back.

sorry mate, but i think i would know, since i live there and all.

the coverage stops at about smithfield, and then you roam onto telstra's 2G network north of that.

if you know something about expansions of their broadband zone, this would be awesome. but i dont think it is happening, as far as i know.

this is the current coverage map as per the 3 website. dark areas are broadband zone, light areas are 2G

It's slightly ironic that praise is given to a phone company by unlocking your phone, because of their poor coverage.

i am still not sure what gundog is talking about though.

3 roam onto telstra's 2g network.

so unless he is going right out into the sticks, where only next g is available, then he should be getting coverage.

but out that far, NOONE gets coverage.

can you give us a bit more info gundog?

There is now 3g roaming using 900mhz on the vodafone network, this will increase even futher over the next few months so I have been informed by Vodafone rep who visited my store last week.

I have tried to view the 3 coverage maps but their not available at the moment, check with a 3 or allphones store they may have updated info, unfortunatly 3 will not roam on telstras next g network.

yes, but you still have roaming data charges for this, so its not really worth it.

i just tried then, and the coverage maps seem to work for me, http://www.three.com.au/coveragechecker

3 doesnt roam onto next g, but it does roam onto telstra's gsm network, which, unless you go out into the country, will be more than enough.
