You're a Bunch of Factors

I reckon this hand is my single worst hand, ie terrible success rate with it.

Curious as to how some of you approach this hand and recommended strategies depending on position.

What is your standard play with it from what positions, are you cbetting if you don't hit a flop etc

If you walked up to any poker pro and asked their opinion with that same statement they would probably sigh and walk away.
There are too many variables that you haven't disclosed and playing the hand the right way today will be the wrong way tomorrow.
Things to consider:
What position your in?
Did you raise and if so how much?
Were you re raised?
how many players called?
What style of player are they?
What was the flop exactly, what was the action?
ETC, etc, etc...........
After saying all that AJ might look good but it is what I classify as a marginal hand, it's a good pre flop hand but if you don't hit the flop you have to look at maybe floating the flop and turn, otherwise fold the hand and get away from it.
And even if an A hit's the board you will not always be ahead, you've raised from UTG, your callers will either have pockets or possibly a bigger A than you.

That's pretty much all I needed to know - I think I was consistently giving the hand too much respect. It's just plain been unlucky for me also, have been called with some super marginal hands (despite betting HARD preflop) and they've jagged a running str8 on the river etc

I didn't give you a scenario because it hasn't mattered one jot
