Foxtel is well worth it - particularly if you get IQ. We found that by dropping part of our package we were able to actually get Foxtel cheaper with IQ.
It's really a matter of what entertainment you spend your money on. Obviously if you have Foxtel you'll rent less dvds, go to the movies less etc. I just reckon IQ is brilliant so you can set your favourite shows to record, and watch them at your leisure.
Much better than free to air - if I'm in the mood to lounge about for an hour or two, I like having a choice wide enough so that there is always something I'd be interested in watching - much better than the poop on free to air...
